Causes of the American Revolution

    Proclamation of 1763
    It defined 4 new colonies. It caused anger & irritation for the british colonists. It made it so that all lands within the "ndian territory occupied by Englishmen were to be abandoned. Some people agree that the limitatis of colonies had created tension between the colonies and Britain. They think that this might have contributed to the start of it.
  • The Stamp Act

    The Stamp Act
    The American colonists created this Act, because they could not pay the tax, and because it violated the new principle of "No taxation without representation." The Stamp Act paved the way for the American Revolution.
  • The quartering act

    The quartering act
    The quatering act required the colonies to provide places or homes for the soldiers to station at, and supplies to British troops. The British made the colonies accept the act because the British were protecting them from the French. The colonists did not take the French as a threat, but didn't think think they should have to pay for the protection that the British was providing them with.
  • Declatory Act

    Declatory Act
    The Declatory Act, which established British authority to make and pass laws for the colonies. However, when Parliament asserted in 1767 that it could pass any laws by majority, the colonies were infuriated. Thomas Paine retaliated by posting pamphlets called “The American Crisis.” The Declaratory Act made out to be one of the most cruciating and important events in the causing of the Revolutionary War.
  • The Townshed Revenue Act

    The Townshed Revenue Act
    This act was made as an indirect tax, the act placed import duties on raw materials such as lead, paper, paint, glass, and tea. Crowds of angry people mobbed the customs office, forcing the officials to retire to a British Warship in the Harbor.
  • The Boston Massacre

    The Boston Massacre
    The Boston Massacre, by many people, is known to be the first war battle of the Revolutionary War. This fatal battle happened on March 5, 1770. The Boston Massacre was pretty much the reaction to the Townshed Act. This act brought much anger between the two. A mob of very infuriated people went in front of the Customs Office. They started chucking things at them and saying rude disagreements and such. In reaction to this the soldiers fired at the crowd. People died.
