  • Treaty of Paris

    Treaty of Paris
    The Treaty of Paris ended the Seven Years War, otherwise known as The French and Indian War. The treaty was signed on February 10th, 1763. Great Britain had won the war against the French and Native Americans. Because of this treaty France would lose all of it's colonies in North America. Great Britian would gain all of French Canada and Spanish Florida. Spain would get all of Louisana and it would lose Florida.
  • Sugar Act

    Sugar Act
    The Sugar Act was passed by Parliament and was placed on the colonies on April 5th, 1764. The Suagr Tax placed a three cent tax on sugar. The Sugar Tax also placed a tax on coffee, indigo, and wine. Parliment did all of this without the consent of the colonies. This angered the colonists because they were used to ruling themselves.

    Stamp Act
    The Stamp Act was place on the colonies by Parliament on March 22nd, 1765. The Stamp Act required that most printed materials in the colonies had to be produced on stamped paper produced in London, that carried an imposed revenue stamp.The Stamp Act had made the colonists angry because the colonies had no representatives in Parliament, and therefore had no controll over what taxes were raised.

    The Declatory Act was placed upon the colonies by Parliament on March 18th, 1766. The Declaratory Act was The British Parliament reasserting its power over the colonies to pass taxes and laws, even though the colonies had no representation. The Declaratory Act came about after The boycottting of British goods after The Stamp Act. The Declaratory Act had angered and worried the colonist because this ment that there were more acts to be placed on them.
  • Townshend Acts

    Townshend Acts
    The Townshend Acts were a series of acts passed beginning on June 15th, 1767 and ended on July 2nd, 1767 by Parliament on the colonies. The purpose of the Townshend Acts was to raise revenue in the colonies to pay the salaries of governors and judges so that they would be independent of colonial rule, to create a more effective means with trade regulations, and to establish the precedent that the British Parliament had the right to tax the colonies.
  • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre
    The Boston Massacre took place on March 5th, 1770. Brittish soldiers shot 5 colonists when they are attacked by angry anti-tax colonists in Boston. These soldiers were tried and were found not guilty. Since this happened the colonists now believe that the British are willing to kill people to enforce these unfair taxes.
  • Tea Act

    Tea Act
    The Tea Act was put on the American colonies by Paliament in May 10th, 1773. The Tea Act gave the tea monopoly to the East India Tea Company by passing the Tea Act which allowed The East India Tea Company to come to the colonies and sell its tea without paying tax which made it significantly cheaper than every other brand. The colonist saw this as another form of taxation without representation and then refused to unload the tea from the ships. This eventually led to the Boston Tea Party.

    The Boston Tea Party took place in Boston on December 16th,1773. The Sons of Liberty were an anti-tax group started by John Hancock and Samuel Adams. They dumbed a large shipment of British tea into the harbor to protest the Tea Act. After this King George III sends more troops to the colonies because he says "that the colonies are in a state of rebellion".
  • Intolerable Acts

    Intolerable Acts
    The Intolerable Acts were put the colonies by Parliament on December 5th, 1774. Parliament passed three laws to punish Boston. They closed Boston Harbor. They made public meeting illegal. They also imposed military rule in the colony until the tea was paid for.
  • Battle of Lexington and Concord

    Battle of Lexington and Concord
    These Battles were on April 19th, 1775 between the colonists and the British. British troops leave Boston in search of weapons being stored by the Sons of Liberty and to arrest John Hancock and Samuel Adams. Paul Revere warned the 4000 colonists. The British suffer 273 deaths. The colonists 90 deaths.
