Proclamation of 1763
The Proclamation of 1763 was created at the end of the French and Indian war. It was signed by King George lll on October 7th 1763. It was signed to keep the colonists from settling west of the appalachian mountains. The colonists were mad becuse they had just fought for that land and they could not go there. -
Stamp Act of 1764
The Stamp Act rose taxes on all printed materials the colonists bought. Those items were newspapers, pamphlets, bill, legal documents, licenses, almanacs, dice and playing cards. This act was
established to pay for the French and Indian War. -
Sugar Act of 1764
The Sugar act rose the taxes of many items the colonists bought. Those items include sugar, textiles, coffee, wines and indigo. The taxes were lowered only two years of the act was established. -
Boston Massacre
Boston massacre when a group of people messed with british soldiers who then shot at the people in the crowd. Even though it was called a massacre it only killed 5 people and wounded 6. It was called a massacre so that the people of the colonies would dislike the British even more. -
Boston Tea Party
The Sons of Liberty disguised themselves as Mohawk Indians and dumped imported tea from Britain into the Boston Harbor. They did this because they had to pay taxes on tea imported from Britain. There was 45 tons of tea dumped into the Boston harbor. -
Boston Port Act
The act closed the Boston Port until the cost of the Boston Tea Party was made up. The act also moved the capitol of Massachusetts to Salem and moved the official port of Massachusetts. This act completely destroyed Boston’s economy and made less jobs for the colonists. -
Impartial Administration of Justice Act
This act gave the royal governor of a colony the ability to move a trial to another colony or to even England. They could move the trial if they thought it would be judged fairly and evenly. Even though if it was moved to England it would be unfair because the British would get the person up for trial in the most trouble possible. -
Quartering Act
This act allowed British troops to live in the colonists houses if the barracks were not available. The colonists had to take complete responsibility for the troops and do everything for them. The colonists hated this act because they did not like that the troops had to stay in their house, especially a British one. -
Quebec Act
This act gave Quebec civil government and religious freedom to catholics. The colonists did not like this because they had been asking for that same thing for a long time. They also did not like this because Quebec was not one of the thirteen colonies. -
Massachusetts regulating act
This made all law officers chosen by the royal governor of that colony. The act also prohibited and meetings that didn’t get approved by the royal governor of the colony. The chosen officers would be people that were British and would arrest the colonists for nothing.
