Cause of The American Revolution

  • The french and indian war ends

    The French and Indian war was one of a series of wars between the French and British starting as early as the 1600's. The French and Indian War took place 1754 to 1763
  • The Sugar Act

    The Sugar Act was the first tax on the american colonies imposed by the British Parliment. Its purpose was to raise revenue through the colonial customes and control of the trade of the colonist.
  • The Stamp Act

    The Stamp Act was a direct act imposed by the British Parliment specifically to the British colonies. The Act required that many printed materials in the colonies be produced on stamp paper produced in London.
  • Townshend Acts

    The Townshend Act was a series of laws named after Charles Townshend, British Chancellor of the Exchequer. These laws plaeced new taxes on glass, lead, paints, paper , and tea. The colonies reaction to this was the same as it was for the other taxes passed after the war.
  • The Boston Massacre

    The Boston Massacre was the killing of 5 colonist by british soldiers. This all started the british soldiers came to boston, Massachusetts in Oct. 1768 to enforce the taxes imposed on the colonies.
  • The Boston Tea Party

    The Boston Tea Party was a direct effect of The Boston Massacre. Colonist snuck onto a british ship that was inporting to the colonies, got the barrels of tea and through them over board.
  • The ride of paul revere

    On april 8, 1775 Paul Revere rode his horse to warn Sam adams and John hancock that the british were coming.
  • The battle at bunker hill

    The battle at bunker hill was fought between thr british and american troops. Americans lost this battle, but not the war.
