  • Treaty of Paris

    Treaty of Paris
    The Treaty of Paris was signed in 1763 by England, France and Spain. France lost Canada to the British, the British also gained Great Lakes Country, Ohio River Ralley, and Florida. This ended the French and Indian War.
  • The Sugar Act

    The Sugar Act
    Parliamne passed this act in 1764. The Sugar Act placed a tax on sugar, wine, ect. They placed this act because the british needed the money to help the colonies. They used to money to help protect the colonies. This Act made the colonists very upset.
  • The Stamp Act

    The Stamp Act
    The British Parliament passed the Stamp Act in 1765. This taxed the American colonist on printed material, like documents, newspapers, playing cards, ect. The money used off of the Stamp Act helped protect the colonies. It was veiwed as an attempt to gain money in the colonies but without approval of the colonial legislatures.

    The British Parliament passed the Quartering Act in 1765. It was a tax used to help the British pay for the cost of maintaining troops in America. This Act needed the colonists to provide the British troops with housing and food.

    In 1766, Parliament passed the Declaratory Act. This act said that parliament had full authority to make and pass laws for the colonies. Some colonists thought this act was going to make more taxes passed.
  • The Boston Massacre

    The Boston Massacre
    On the night of March 5, 1770 a large group of colonists met in front of the customs building in boston to protest against the taxation without representation. colonists started to throw snow balls and stones at the british soilders. One soildier was hit, so he fired his gun, this led to the other soilders firing. in the end 5 colonists were killed. this became known as the Boston Massacre.

    Parliament passed the Tea Act in 1773. This act was not an actual tax on tea. It declared that the East Indian Company had to go directly to Britain and then export it again to the colonies. The Tea Act was a way to bail out the East Indian Company.

    In 1773 American patriots dressed as Mohawk Indians boarded the ships of the East Indian Company that were in the Boston harbor. They dumped all of the tea into the ocean that was on the three ships. There was 342 chests of tea emptied into the ocean, which was worth about 10,000 pounds. This was a reaction to the Tea Act.

    The Intolerable Acts were passed in 1774, these were a series of laws passed by parliament to help control the colonies. They passed this act to punish the colonists for destroying the tea by pouring it into the Boston harbor.

    The Battles of Lexington and Concord were 2 battles. These battles were the start of the revolutionary war. The First shots were given at lexington and the bristish general sent troops to concord to destory the colonists ammunition. The generals plan was to capture Samuel Adams and John Hancock
