World War II Ends
The Allied forces defeated the Axis after several continuous years of fighting long battles. Canada had participated in this warfare by providing over 1 million men to the army, navy, and air force and provided their equipment. Adolf Hitler commiting suicide had led to Germany's surrender. Shortly after, the Japanese forces had also surrendered. -
United Nations is Created
United Nation was the alliance of over 50 countires led by Britain, US, Soviet and Canada.
Striving for goals of:

-prevention of any wars
-cooperation among the nations
-improve the living condition for all nations
-defend human rights and promte equality -
Communist Take Control Over China
Canada helped China when United Nations failed to see that the government was communists. It had been ongoing for years and United Nations did not step in but Canada having a peacemaking reputation stepped in and tried to help out. -
Creation of NATO
NATO also known as the North Atlantic Treaty Organization is the participation of countries to form a mutual defense response against attacks of other countries or nations. Signed by countries sucha as US, Briatin, Canada, Belgium, France, etc. -
Korean War
Korea was split into North Korea(Communist) and South Korea (Democratic). It was a war between the North and South over political aspects. US military were supporting and occupying South Korea while North Korea was supported and occupied by the Soviets. Canada supported the United Nations by taking part as a peace maker. -
Creation of WARSAW Pact
The WARSAW Pact was a treaty signed by the Soviets, Bulgaria, Eastern Germany, Albania, Hungary, Romania, Poland, and Czechoslovakia. It was an alliance between Communist countries and also acted as a response to NATO. -
Vietnam War

Lester Pearson was a Canadian leader who helped with the peace keeping when Britain and France attacked Egypt regarding a man made ditch in Egypt built by the French and Brits. The Suez crisis involved a Canadian leader's idea and Canadian soldiers. -
Berlin Wall is Built
The Berlin Wall was built to divide German Democratic Republic (East Germany) and Communist (West Germany). Millions of Germans have escaped to West Berlin to get a better access to other European countries which had also led to many deaths. This wall had made it difficult to transport goods and isolated West Berlin. -
Cuban Missile Crisis
Soviet's missiles were facing the US. US President John F. Kennedy had demanded for the missiles to be dismantled and removed. US set a blockade surrounding Cuba in which this denied entry to any incoming weapons. -
USSR Invades Afghanistan
The Russians had taken over Afghanistan converting them into a communist country. The US and Canada showed their support for the United Nations by taking part in this. -
Berlin Wall is Torn Down
Took over three decades before the Berlin Wall was torn down. Signified the end of the Communist system and the end of the Cold War. The tearing down had also showed that East and West Berlin could reunite.
