The National Guard takes defensive positions in Kent State as a response to the base burning on May 1, 1970

The National Guard opens fire on a protest killing 4 students after a failed attempt to dispearse the crowd.

US leaves the Cambodian front leaving the war mainly in the hands of the South Vietnamese. The US did however provide some areal and artillary assistance.

Daniel Ellsberg releases documents showing the illigal cambodian bombings of 1969 to the New York Times. These are then published in the Newspaper.

As a response to the pentagon papers congress passess The War Powers Resolutions act of 1973 which limits the presidential power over the millitary. This was used to ban all aid to Cambodia. This begins the process of the NVA pushing the South Vietnamese out of Cambodia and widening the Ho Chi Minh Trail.
