Elio looks back at the summer of 1987. The summer that his family invited the summer guest Oliver, but at first he really did not like the new summer guest.

Oliver´s first day

Elio shows Oliver around the house. They are going to stay in rooms next door to each other and sharing the bathroom.

Day 2

Elio and Oliver start to get to know each other. Having conversations about their hobbies.

The bank account

Jul 3, 1987

Oliver says he wants to open a bank account in B. Elio uses the opportunity to show Oliver around the city.

Day 3

Jul 4, 1987

They start spending time together. Swimming, jogging and talking.

Feelings

Elio starts developing feelings for Oliver, and gets jealous when he thinks Oliver is out with girls every night.

The archeological found

Jul 6, 1987

Elio and Oliver join mr. Perlman to check out an archeological found. They decide to end their dispute and call it truce.

Distance

Jul 7, 1987

Elio and Oliver have a complicated friendship. Their dispute continues. They have been distant for a while, but now Elio has had enough and says he needs to speak to Oliver.

Tension

Elio is mad at Oliver and believes he is a traitor. Tension is created between them.

Marzia

Jul 9, 1987

Elio has gotten his eyes set on Marzia, "the perfect girl next door". As an attempt to "get back at" Oliver, they get together.

ELIO AND OLIVER

Elio and Oliver finally "find" each other. They are upset that they "lost" so many weeks only being friends.

Last day in B.

Jul 11, 1987

Oliver´s stay is coming to an end. Oliver has to go to Rome before heading back to the states. Mrs. and Mr. Perlman suggests that Elio goes with him.

Rome

Jul 12, 1987

Elio and Oliver arrive in Rome, and get to experience what they have been talking about for a while, freedom.

The Party

Jul 13, 1987

Elio and Oliver end up at a party with authors and musicians. Together they experience utter happiness and freedom.

Elio comes home

Jul 14, 1987

Oliver has left for the USA. Elio arrives home. Feeling happy and extremely sad at the same time. He has lost the love of his life.

Mr. Perlman

Jul 15, 1987

Elio and his father have an important conversation about Elio and Oliver´s relationship and how it was a really good relationship. Mr. Perlman tells him that "our hearts and our bodies are given to us only once" so Elio has to live his life to the fullest.
