Navigation Acts
Act that forced goods produced by the colonists to be shipped on British ships. While loyalists liked this and thought it would keep their goods safe, patriots didn't like having no say in the matter and being forced into the act. -
Sugar Act
Created to lower national debt and reduced the amount of tax on molasses. Merchants boycotted luxury imports as a result of the act. -

Requirement of British soldiers to be housed and fed by colonists. People thought it violated their bill of rights and were outraged. -
Declaratory Act
Parliament declares sovereignty over the colonies so they can make any taxes they want. The colonists were upset as they wanted to be left alone and not taxed. They were more upset that they had no say -
Townshend Acts
Taxation on the colonists on even more items. Caused unrest in the colonies and boycotts of British goods -
Tea Act
It was a way to boost the struggling tea company in England by making them the sole provider of tea for the colonies. Since tea was so loved, this sparked outrage, eventually leading into the Boston Tea Party -
Coercive Act
A series of laws to restore order after the Boston Tea Party. The colonists viewed this as a violation of their rights. -
Quebec Act
Gave religious freedom to Catholics in Canada, but was considered one of the Intolerable Acts. This caused the colonists to form a resistance against British rule in the colonies.
