    Sings of boxing

    Early sings of boxing were in Africa in the year 400 bc.

  • The First Match

    The first match was in Britain 1681, the Duke of Albemarle had a match between his butler and his butcher.

  • The First Rules

    Jack Boughtonis is created the first rules (his opponent died in the match).

  • The Rules

    The Marquess of Queensberry created the rules that are used now.

  • Mouth Gard

    Jack Marlesa the London doctor invented the first mouthpiece. But it didn't get used until 1913 and it was worn by Ted Lewis.

  • Television

    The first heavyweight boxing match is televised, it was Max Baer vs Lou Nova, from the Yankee Stadium in Bronx.

  • Women's Boxing

    Women weren’t able to box until the late 1998, the first match was in Streatham in London, between Jane Couch vs Simona Lukic.
