Possibly Escapism by Hannah Verley

  • Twilight Series

    Twilight Series

One of the first books I remember reading is the Twilight Saga and it genuinely started the young adult fiction obsession since then. Who wouldn't want to fall madly in love with a vampire where you're meant to be together it's even written in your DNA?
  • The Book Thief

    The Book Thief

The Book Thief is still a book I will read when I am in the mood for a really good cry. This was the first historic fiction I have ever read and shaped the ideas I have about historic fiction to this day. I am still cautious but this book is rated a 100/10 on my list.
  • The Perks of Being a Wallflower

The Perks of Being a Wallflower

This book was one of my first ever "racy" books because it has talk of drugs, suicide, and sexual abuse. I was probably way too young to be reading it, but it taught me a lot about being friends with those I didn't even consider people on my radar. It showed me empathy towards others because you genuinely don't know what others are going through. Also became my favorite movie and one of the first books I ever bought with my own money.
  • The Illiad

    The Illiad

I went through a very strong Greek Mythology phase in my life and wanted to try reading the Iliad. I told people I finished it but I honestly didn't and found it extremely boring. Still love Greek Mythology though.
  • Divergent Series

    Divergent Series

The Divergent novels shaped me into who I am as a person. Divergent is a dystopian novel where you choose the faction you will be spending the rest of yo life in depending on your personality. Brave, smart, caring, peace loving, any of those. I wanted so badly to be a part of the Dauntless Faction to be brave and courageous like they were. It helped encourage my love for dystopian novels and still encourages it to this day.
  • The Fault in Our Stars

    The Fault in Our Stars

The Fault in Our Stars was one of the first books I sobbed over. I was absolutely heart broken and this book made me realize I am more a hopeless romantic than I am human.
  • Harry Potter

    Harry Potter

Harry Potter like every millennial became a really big part of my life even through to adulthood. It became almost like a personality and refreshed the dystopian love I have always had. I read the books after seeing the movies and it taught me so much about creativity and friendships and just overall showed me the worlds of magic and how badly I wanted to live in that type of world. Gryffindor for life!
  • Pride and Prejudice

    Pride and Prejudice

I love every movie adaptation of Jane Austen novels but I cannot read one of her novels. The old language bores me to no end and every book is just someone ignoring that they're in love and going to someone else's house to discuss how they're not in love. Old books are not my forte.
  • Shadow Hunters Saga

    Shadow Hunters Saga

The shadow hunters books were some of the first and even more recent books I have read. There are 17 books and more coming out very soon. It's love stories, demon hunting, vampires and many different POC, LGBTQ+ characters, and made me fall in a deeper love and appreciation for fiction novels.
  • The Handmaids Tale

    The Handmaids Tale

This is the most recent book I have finished and it is fiction, but not young adult its a genuine adult aged book hitting on very important topics and uses eloquent language and I genuinely enjoy it. It made me realize I can like some more books created for "my age" and enjoy them just as much! Time to branch out some more again! But still hold the ones I know to be tried and true close to my heart.
