    The French and Indian War
    The French and Indian war ended in 1763. Years passed and Europe was losing money due to it. Great Britain decided to tax the colonies. The stamp and sugar acts were passed. This outraged the colonist because they were being taxed unfairly. They also had no representation in parliament like the people of Britain did. These issues pushed the colonist to rebel and try to break free from Great Britain.
  • The Boston Massacre

    The Boston Massacre
    A violent clash between colonist and British soldiers caused the tensions between the two to rise. The British fired at a crowd of protesters and killed 5 innocent people. This conflict, known as the Boston Massacre, is a major assisting event in helping the colonial public understand and fight alongside the Patriots. It was a big contribution to the start of the revolution.

    The American Revolution
    The tension between Britain and the colonist lead to conflict in Lexington and Concord, Massachusetts. This marked the start of the Revolutionary War. During this time, congress came together to form the continental army. They showed poor performance in their battles against Britain due to their lack of technological advances and number of soldiers. The colonist were brought together by the British Rule.
  • The Declaration of Independence

    The Declaration of Independence
    The second Continental Congress voted to declare their independence from Great Britain. On July 4th, 1776, the members wrote of the Declaration of Independence. John Locke's ideas of the government's duty to protect the natural rights of the people were reflected in the Declaration of Independence. Other ideas such as popular sovereignty and our God given rights were included in the document. A nation was born, The United States of America. This document gave the colonist more reason to rebel.
  • The Constitution

    The Constitution
    The American constitution created a new form of government. This document ensured freedom and protection on all Americans. With Americas new found rights and government, they succeeded. America became one of the most successful countries during this time. To this day, the constitution still protects the rights and freedoms of people.
