  • Personal Hygeine (4/5th)

    Nurse Soltesz discussed personal hygeine with the upper elementary students. Students watched a DVD regarding hygiene. Topics addressed were spreading grems, handwashing, showering, washing hair, foot care, deodarant use, and toileting habits. Before the presentation, the school nurse asked students to voice what they considered as hygiene. After the DVD, questions were answered, and students were urged to remember the practice of good hygience practices daily. Shampoo, soap, deodarant offered.
  • MLK Essay

    By request, students in grades 2-5 write essays on a time they felt that they had experienced injustice. Students could also describe thier feelings or the differences between justice and injustice. By writing the essay, hopefully, students' self esteem and problem solving strategies grew by expressing individual concerns and emotions.
  • Pink Out/"Giving Tanks"

    Pink Out/"Giving Tanks"
    For breast cancer awareness, students brought in loose change to make a change in many lives. The money collected by the school was used to purchase gas cards to give to individuals who travel to hospitals to fight their cancer battle. By teaching students to give and care for strangers in need encourages individual healthy habits and improves self esteem.

    Fire Safety Week
    Individual classroom teachers did fire safety lessons within their classrooms. On Oct. 7th Grades 3,4,5 took a tour of Bethlehem Firehouse and listened attentively to presentation. On Oct. 8th Grades K,1,2 rotated through three stations learning about equipement and procedures to aide in fire prevention and/or safety.

    Buster Buddies
    Buster Buddies is a program for grades Preschool through 2nd that teaches school bus safety. The program uses a remote controlled, kid-friendly bus to engage students throughout the presentation.
  • Red Ribbon Week

    Red Ribbon Week
    School counselor led the school wide program by teaching a variety of grade level appropriate lessons on drug prevention. Our school is "Too Cool to do Drugs"!
  • Volleyball Game

    Volleyball Game
    The fifth grade class donated the most amount of money during the "Giving Tanks" project and therefore, was rewarded by challenging the teachers/staff to a volleyball game. The game demanded respect, good sportmanship, and physical activity. The other grades learned crowd participation by cheering on their favorites.
  • Career Day

    Career Day
    A day where students could invite a family member to visit school and discuss his/her career. The different presentations encouraged integrity, hard work, and the importance of learning. This special day was held during Red Ribbon Week to discourage the use of drugs and choosing a brighter path.
  • Brag Tag Assembly

    Brag Tag Assembly
    Students recieved a brag tag for individual accomplishments for the first nine week grading period. The brag tags are a way to build self esteem and show others that the owner is responsible and achieving personal goals and greatness!
  • Halloween Safety

    Halloween Safety
    The Halloween Safety program is held every year to guide the students in making the proper choices. Items presented include a variety of good costume choices to trick or treating guidelines. Student participation makes it fun and keeps the audience involved and entertained.
  • Student Council Elections

    Students in grades 3-5 are given the chance to run for Student Council. Students running have to be quality leaders and tell why the voters should give them a vote. Student speeches help exhibit self esteem and bravery when speaking to an audience. 12 members were selected for the 2015-2016 Student Council.
  • Cardiac Kids

    With parent consent, students' blood pressure, weight, and Height were taken, and the back of each neck was assessed for Acanthosis Nigricans. A small tube of blood was also drawn and sent to test for cholesterol or lipid levels. Results were sent home. The purpose was to help identify children at risk for heart disease.
  • PBS Hockey Game

    PBS Hockey Game
    Bethlehem students who showed great character behavior were rewarded by being treated to a Nailers Hockey Game. There the students continued to exhibit positive behaviors and good sportmanship. They cheered on their favorite players/team and learned about the game (rules, procedures, etc.).
  • PBS School Dance

    Two 30 minute sessions were scheduled in the school day to reward students who met classroom requirements and displayed character behavior for the month! Grades Preschool through 2 danced in their own individual style and then grades 3-5 showed what moves they had on the dance floor. Students showed excitement and were full of energy!
  • Well Doll Clinic

    Well Doll Clinic
    Kindergartners take a field trip to Wheeling Hospital. Along with them travel their favortie stuffed animal. The doctor presenting treats the animals and explains different medical topics so that the kindergartners understand and know what to expect when he/she may need medical treatment.
  • Snowman Games

    On Friday, the students were rewarded with games and excitement in our school gym for having good behavior. Mrs. Gill, our school counselor, planned several games that included a variety of motor skill activities. To name just a few, students through balls at tin can snowmen, bowled, and even learned how to use chopsticks while racing to save the marshmallows. Needless to say, the students had a "ball"!
