Stalin turned the Soviet Union into a totalitarian state controlled by a powerful and complex bureaucracy. Stalin had more power than any other leader. His mind set for the Soviet Union was to make it a modern industrial power. -
The Manchurian incident
Japanese officers set explosives and blew up tracks on a Japanese-owned railroad line, blaming it was the Chinese. Claiming self-defense, the army attacked Chinese forces taking over Manchuria with no permission causing the Japanese to get out of the League of Nations. -
Hitler appointed Chancellor of Germany
His plan, embraced by much of the German population, was to do away with politics and make Germany a powerful, unified one-party state.

Japan withdraws from League of Nations
League of Nations condemned Japanese aggression against China, Japan simply withdrew from the League. The league's member states failed to take military action against Japanese. -
