    Magna Carta

    The Magna Carta is a document signed by King John. This document established a council of 25 barons, so that the King could keep his clauses. Such as being protected from illegal imprisonment. This had an affect on the American Constition because it gave them the idea of these laws.
  • The Mayflower Compact

    The pilgrims drafted the first governing document in the Plymouth colony Mayflower Compact. This important because it was the first document for creating a government.
  • English Bill of Rights

    This was a parliament that enhanced democratic freedom of speech and election, but decreased the powers of the king and queen. This is important because it is an example of how a monarchy changes into a democracy and an example of what a democracy is.
  • Boston Massacre

    This fight was with rocks, snowballs, sticks, and a group of British soldiers. It was a street fight, the British soldiers killied 5 civilian men. This is important because the US was a new country and they were learning so they were finding their way to piece.
  • Boston Tea Party

    A town in massachussetts called boston was having a problem with the taxing of tea. The citizens did not opprove of the kings actions and lashed out. three ships full of tea was thrown into The Boston Harbor.
  • Boston Port Act is passed by Parliament

    This act was passed by the Parliament of Great Britain which closed the port of Boston and demanded that they pay almost 1 million dollars.

    This act allowed the governer of Massachusetts to remove any trial proceeding with great britain or another colony. And provided other authorities in the trials.

    This act was to inform the British soldiers the conditions of boarding to the American colonies. Also the locations were outlined.

    This was a meeting with all the delegates from 12 of the 13 colonies in the Carpenter Hall in Philidelphia, Pensilvania. This was the first meeting of the US Government which why this is very important to the Amercan Constitution.
  • The American Revolution begins

    This day was when there were 700 british troops sent on a mission to capture patriot leaders. This was the day that the first shot was fired in Lexington, this was the beginning of the american revolution. This is important because it is one of the first steps to the american constitution.
  • The second continental congress

    Right after the American Revolutionary war had begun the delagates from all 13 colonies met in philidelpjia, pennsylvania. This is once again another step towards the American Constitution.
  • Ben Franklin presents a plan for the confederation

    His plan was to send a letter to jamaica and ireland, although this plan did not happen at the time it was never forgotten. This is important because a couple of the main points became the Articles of Confederation.
  • The Declaration of Rights

    The declaration of Rights is a document that was written by the government in Virginia. It was written to pertain the rights of citizens and the government.
  • Richard Henry Lee introduces independence resolution

    This was also known as The Lee Resolution. Lee purposed independence for the colonies at the Second Continental Congress.

    This was the day of Independence, this was the day that we declared separation from Great Britain. This is very important because it is the day that we arent controlled by Great Britain and when we were becoming a new country.

    This was a loose alliance with the militia and some patriots from a few of the states.

    This document was written to have the US Government function as a national government after we declared independence from Great Britain.

    The articles were very vague and did not leave a lot of power in the hands of the government, but put a lot of power within the state governments.
  • The Revolutionary War ends

    Finally the Revolutionary war has ended. The war has finally ended and now this new country can figure out how they are going to do this!
  • Virginia Statute for religious freedom

    This documnet was written by thomas jefferson. while writing this he wanted to ensure seperation of church and the state of virginia. This was accepted by Virginia in 1786.
  • Constitutional Convention opens

    55 delegates convened after four year of Americas independence.
  • Signing of the Constitution

    There was only one reason 42 of the 55 delegates convened that day and it was the sighn the Constitution of the United States of America.
  • Final draft of the Constitution is sent to congress

    This was also the same day of it being sent to congress for the Constitution to be signed by the delagtes.
  • Constitution Ratified.

    The constitution is finally ratfied and approved. This is a big day because once it goes into action America will be a new country and they finally know what they are doing.
