    The evening of October 20,1861, McClellan ordered Gneral Charles to send a scouting (spy) party out to see across the Potomac River to find out the positions of the Confederate Colonel Nathan's troops in Leesburg. The darkness that they experienced caused Captain Phillbrick to mistakan a line of trees for a line of tents. He then reported that as an unguarded campground.     Battle of Chattanooga
    It started November 23a nd ended on November 25. This was when the Union forced the Confederate troops into Tennessee. This was at the battles of Lookout Mountain and Missionary Ridge. These battles are also called the Battles of Chatanooga. The victories of both battles caused the Confederates to go back into Georgia.
