Battle of Vimy Ridge

First Attack

Apr 9, 1917

Canadian and British bombardments against the German forces begin. By the end of that night, the Germans still hold the top of the ridge.

Day 2

Apr 10, 1917

New British and Canadian brigades are brought in. The German troops become outflanked and pull back. The only Canadian goal not yet attained is the capture of the top of the ridge, the Pimple.

Victory

Apr 12, 1917

The Canadian forces gain complete control of the entire ridge.
