    Landed on the northen shore
    The Landing was orginally scheduled for the 23rd of April 1915 but due to bad weather it was postponed. The Anzacs, with the 3rd Infantry Brigade leading the assault, were to land north of Gaba Tepe on the Aegean coast, from where they could advance across the peninsula, cutting off the Ottoman troops in Kilitbahir. The small cove in and around which they landed became known as "Anzac Cove".

    Gallipoli Campaign

    It lasted for 8 months, 2 weeks and 1 day. Located at Gallipoli Peninsula, Sanjak of Gelibolu, Adrianople Vilayet. The result was that the Ottoman empire took victory.The first major fighting for thes men was in what would come to be known as the failed Gallipoli Campaign in 1915. It was in Gallipoli that the Australian and New Zealand soldiers first fought united under the ANZAC name. The title later became a legend.
  • Early attcak to drive the Anzacs back to the Beach

    During the afternoon of 27th of April Mustafa Kemal launched a concerted attack to drive the Anzacs back to the beach. With the support of naval gunfire, the Ottomans were held off throughout the night.
  • The Ottomans Launch a major battle.

    The Ottomans launched a major assault towards Anzacs on 42,000 Ottomans attacked 17,000 Australians and New Zealanders, the attack was miscarried.
  • The Battle of Lone Pine

    The Battle of Lone Pine
    At 5:30pm, with the sun behind them, the ANZACs launched the Battle of Lone Pine. Hoping to take advantage of the sun shining into the Turks' eyes, the ANZACs were surprised to find that the frontline of the Turkish trenches were concealed by pine logs and earth. This ploy enabled the Turks to fire at the ANZACs at close range, while the ANZACs were forced to try and remove the logs. The ANZACs, however, managed to enter the frontline trench through the communication trenches that were connected
  • The Battle of The Nek

    The Battle of The Nek
    The Allies had been bombarding the Turkish trenches with shellfire, yet seven minutes before the ANZACs wero to charge at the Turks, who were only 50 metres away, for an unknown reason, the allied assault ceased. This small space of time allowed the Turks to regroup in their trenches. When the ANZACs were ordered to charge with their unloaded rifles, they were destoyed by the Turkish lines of machine-gun fire.
    Several hundred men were killed in half an hour.

    Ending on the 29th of August 1915 it was the last major battle during the Gallpoi campaign.
  • Anzacs wre finally ordered to withdraw from Gallipoli.

    To hide that they where leaving the Anzacs set up some riffles to fire at random, this later became known as the 'ghost guns of Gallipoli'.

    Over the lenth of the Gallipoli campaign 8709 Australians died, and 19 00 were wounded. Over 80 00 turks were killed.
