    I do not remember a lot about first reading in school, but first to third grade was when I learned the most about how to read, which lead to what I liked to read....

    I remember in fourth grade, we picked a book each week for our reading logs and I was obsessed with Junie B. Jones. This was the very first time I found what I liked and enjoyed reading.

    In middle school I really got into reading music instead of books. I was in band and I loved learning new music on my instrument. This shaped my reading on a different level than any book could.

    When I started high school, I began to despise reading. We had to read so many books that I did not enjoy and I really think this changed my attitude towards it.

    I fell in love with writing! So many people asked "how could I love writing when I hate to read?" What I did not realize is I don't hate reading, I just hated the books i was required to read.

    Senior year I realized I loved to read true crime novels. This is what shaped my career plans for college

    I originally began college as a Bio student, hoping to go into forensics after I graduated. I suppose reading had an influence on my change of heart. Chemistry destroyed me and I could no longer follow along in class. I was falling behind and the textbook made zero sense to me.
  • Change in majors

    Change in majors
    I switched Majors 3 years in, and decided that I wanted to be an elementary school teacher and write children's books. Reading for me has not always been my strong suit, but it did lead me to my career choice and make me want to be a writer!
