    Boston intorduces written exams for the government funded schools.
  • 1st Written Entrance Exam at Harvard

    Harvard introduced its first written entrance examinations.
  • Mutliple Choice Test

    Thye multiple choice test is first invented. It provided a solution to how expensive the one-on-one application of the IQ test would be on US army recruits.
  • Stanford-Binet IQ Test

    Leis Terman at Stanford University takes up Binet's intelligence tests and creates the STanford-Binet IQ test.
  • Scholastic Aptitude Test

    The College Entrance Examinations Board was established in 1900 and started to develop the use of multiple-choice tests to measure aptitude after 1918. In 1920 the multiple-choice Scholastic Aptitude Test was designed.

    Conducted by the National ASsessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) These were intended to produce only a nationwide picture, but developed to produce data for the performance of each state.
