  • Proclamation of 1763

    After the French and Indian War, Britain realized that they did not want to continue fighting Native groups for land. Britain delared the Proclamation of 1763 stating that Brtiah settlers could not migrate west of the Appalachain Mountains. This made the settlers very unhappy becasue they had moved to America to farm, and they needed more land.
  • Stamp Act

    The stamp act was an act that put taxes on anything that had a British stamp on it. The Americans were so angry with not having any saying in the taxes that they started to boycott all British goods. This was one of the most effective protest.
  • Boston Massacre

    The Boston Massacre influenced the Americans to fight for their freedom against the British. Paul Revere did an engraving of the massacre and since most people couldn’t read, they only saw the violence in the picture which made it look a lot worse, instead of reading about it which stated that only 5 Americans died.
  • Boston Tea Party

    After the government started the tea act. This act lowered the the price of the East India Company tea . The Americans rather drink cheaper tea that were smuggle in. To express their anger a group of men dress up as Mohawk Indians and throw the boxes of tea in the sea.
  • Common Sense by Thomas Payne

    Common Sense was a pamphlet written by Thomas Payne that inspired many Americans to rise up against the British and fight for our freedom no matter what it takes.
  • The Articles of Confederation

    The Articles of Confederation represent the first constitutional agreement made between the American states. There was a need for unity among the new states that were created as a result of the American Revolution. The relative powers of the individual states and the Continental Congress also needed to be defined for the young country. The Articles created a nation that was "a league of friendship and perpetual union." The state governments retained most of the power in the government.
  • Washington's Farewell

    When George Washington was done with his two terms he had a choice to do another term. He decided to not take it and suggest to future America not to trust other nations. This set the stndards for the future presidents.
  • Election of 1800

    The election was not solved in the electoral college. Thomas Jefferson and Aaron Burr were tired because a Republican elector didn’t throw away his second vote. Everyone was excited when The House started to work on February 27, 1801. The House still didn’t choose a president. They finally decided to choose Jefferson since he’ll make a more responsible president.
