    Columbian Exchange

    Columbian Exchange
    This was the start of trading, and America was introduced to many things. It may have started a while back, but it still kept going for centuries even in the 1800s. This brought new animals to the new world, and foods, slaves, goods from the old world, and diseases too. These would give the Native Americans a start in having to fight new diseases and suffer. Though it hurt the Natives the other things were useful for the future Americans for important events like wars, farming, including trade.

    Printing Press
    The Printing Press was a very popular, and useful machine because it allowed printing to go a lot quicker than before, and you could print out more than before. The first one that was made in North America was from what is known as Mexico City today. This helped me print out more books more quicker. It differently helped with the Bible because then you could make more than one copy. The Bible was differently printed out a lot but once Common Sense came out it definitely because the most printed.
  • Jamestown

    Jamestown
    Jamestown was the first permanent English settlement. The first 'gov' to get more people to come over was also made. Relationship with Powhatans' tribe soon vanished when diseases started appearing.The conflict led to the tribe stealing weapons from the settlers. It all eventually left up to the first war, and many deaths. War did end up in the settlers favor. Many people lost their lives, and the tribe suffered a lot through it all one of the things being their crops getting stolen from them.

    It limited the ability of the Colonies to trade with different places in the world and only be allowed to trade with Britain which was their mother country. It was having a negative effect on the Colonies because they couldn't trade with any outside country before having to stop at an English port and having their loads get unloaded, and loaded up again. People began repelling the act causing its end because the people wanted the freedom to trade and have no restrictions. It resulted with a war.

    This time was a time when people were growing, and having more freedom to do things. This was a time when philosophy was a big thing, and also intellectual. It emphasized reason over superstition and science over blind faith. This time increased the number of books, inventions, scientific discoveries, laws, wars, and revolutions. The American and the French had a revolution that was inspired by the Enlightenment. Development in knowledge for the people, and growth in the scientific universe too.

    Salem Witchcraft Trial
    During this period a lot of women were accused of being a witch, and some men were too. It would start with Elizabeth Parris and Abigail Williams who would have random seizures and were the ones to start false accusations of witchcraft. This would lead to many mistaken deaths for being witches. This event would cause people to realize that they weren't doing lawful court cases, and make a law to not be able to punish does who were innocent at the time. Many died before they were proven innocent.
  • Benjamin Franklin

    Benjamin Franklin
    Benjamin Franklin really was a brilliant person he was the creator of the Albany plan which was to unite the 13 colonies together to help the other states and be there for them/support them, etc. He also got France to support the U.S. by negotiating with the king and making a treaty. He also took part in signing the constitution for the new country. e also helped in writing the Declaration of Independence by drafting some things. Oldest Founding Father, and helped most with getting independence.
  • Steam Engines

    This made traveling through waters easier, especially on heavy currents. It would get things places faster by being able to travel in waters. They were harmless for a while, but there were a few occasions when things would go wrong, and a boat would explode. They weren't used just in boats but in factories, and mills too to power machines of all, and any kind. It helped industries grow quicker, and faster. They would be 'charged' with coal, and iron so it would move the machines, and boats more.

    When the start of the Great Awakening occurred people were establishing their religious ideas. This period of time was also one with the biggest # of people being a part of it, and growing a common American identity for themselves. This also was also something that helped with the growing roots of both feminist, and abolitionist movements. It also helped the Americans prepare for the American Revolution. It did affect the balance in which religions were held the power they had in their believes.

    George Washington was a part of many important things. He took part of the Founding Fathers, and he was also the commander of the continental army. He was considered the "Father of the Country", and he also became the first president of the United States. He signed the Constitution of the United States and also being the first president he started by having his speech before, and when his terms were over he gave his last speech as a fair goodbye to his power, and let it be passed down to others.

    Thomas Jefferson
    Thomas Jefferson was the third President of the United States. He was also a Founding Father and the one who also wrote the Declaration of Independence. During his term as president, a war occurred, and he also got rid of the tax on Whiskey. He provided militia soldiers. He was also the one who did the decision of making a purchase land, and for a low price to this day. He also wanted freedom and equality for all men. With Thomas Jefferson getting rid of the taxes he was able to reduce the dept.

    Albany Plan
    The creator of this plan was Benjamin Franklin. The plan was to get all colonies to support, and secure the other states. Though the plan failed it demonstrated to the people that there was a possibility for them to make plans, and have people agree with the future decisions. The states did end up unifying later on. This plan did give the Grand Council greater relative authority. It leads to the Congress of 1765, and the Continental Congress of 1774. A government that taxed for its own support.

    Sugar Act + more Acts
    The sugar act would be a way for the British to be able to pay off their debt by having the colonies pay extra on other things also known as taxes. Then we had the Currency act, Quartering act, and Stamp act which ultimately leads to the colonies organizing the Sons of Liberty. The Sons of Liberty would create protests and trouble for the British. It would get to the point that colonists began avoiding paying taxes and boycotting the system. The British really took a hit at the occurring events.

    Sons of Liberty
    The Sons of Liberty were done by Colonies who protested against British taxes and laws that occurred before American Revolution. They were also the ones that planned the Boston Tea Party and dressed up one night as Native Americans. This also encouraged the Daughters of liberty to occur with their own way of fighting against the British. The Sons of Liberty would smuggle in goods to avoid having to buy from the British, and pay their taxes, so Britain suffered since it couldn't pay off its debt.

    America had boycotted the system before, but Britain wouldn't give up so easily on setting the Americans free from under their control. The Americans didn't want to pay the taxes the British placed on things because it would increase the price of the item, and their small wages wouldn't be able to support their family as much. This would anger the British which would lead to the founding fathers, and daughters of liberty, with an ending result of a war starting between the Americans and British.

    This was an organized event planned by the Sons of Liberty which is where Americans dressed up as Native Americans boarded the British ships, and overthrew the tea that was on the ship. This is one of the events that would help with leading into the Revolution war in the future. Because of the actions, the American did Parliament punished them by publishing more acts/ taxes on this as if they were saying to not mess with them because they would do something too. Yet they did not stop just there.

    The Revolution War was the beginning of the thirteenth colonies fighting for their independence from their old ruler. It all broke loose when "The First Shot Heard 'Round The World" yet it is unknown from which side the shot came. The debt of what would come to be America started slowly from this point increasing. This war lasted for seven years, but even then America wasn't fully free from Great Britain because of its economy and agency. More wars came after this for the fight of their freedom.

    Common Sense at some point happened to be the book most bought overpassing the Bible. The book encouraged the thought of having independence from Britain throughout the thirteenth colonies. It also argued for a Republican government under a written constitution. This book made an attack towards the political economy in which got people thinking of fighting for their freedom, and no longer being governed by monarchy. Paine didn't want a monarchy to rule over them anymore, but a government system.
  • Crossing the Delaware

    Crossing the Delaware
    This was the first 'Victory' the Americans had, and this definitely helped the American army be more prepared, and ready to fight Britain. This was also the turning point for the Revolution War because it was finally looking up for the Americans. Winning this was a sign that America was going to fight till the end till they finally had their Independence from Britain. The victory gave them hope of being able to believe in themselves and knowing they had more ability to win than they believed to.

    This was the first form of government we had made as a union, but it failed because it was created out of the colonies' own fear of the last Government they had. There was also the Shays Rebillions event when this form of government was still there. It was a total failure for the colonies, but it did help see what needed to be fixed, and what was weak for their first attempt. With the closing of the Articles of Confederation, they started working on making a constitution though it did take time.

    Constitution
    The constitution was made in a formal meeting held just for that event. This meeting was to see how the new place known as America was going to be governed. This was also going on not long after the Articles of Confederation had failed in functioning. After the new constitution had been finished it was put up for an election to occur, and hopefully, things go better this time around. With this change, the states all were a member of the Union. It offered people more than, and their civil rights.

    This plan was what got people talking about balancing the government's power with three branches of government. They didn't want a monarchy that gave all the power to one single human being over all the citizens. They feared the worst if there were no limiting in power for the government they had. James Madison was the one to draft this idea. there was voting in between this plan and New Jersey too. The final voting result was in favor of the Virginia Plan and it has been used since then to now.

    There are three main levels of the Federal Court. There is the district court (trials), Circut courts first to appeal, and the Supreme Court. This would protect people who couldn't protect themselves. They would also treat everyone with equal rights, and equal treatment. This idea of the court system was the first act of congress, but it wasn't all at once it would continue growing and developing as time went on. This would be the government used in the modern days but still developing each day.

    The Cotton Gin was an invention to hopefully decrease slavery. It wasn't created to purposefully increase slavery, but as a result of it functioning perfect, and better than expected slavery grew. More people were torn away from home because the need for slaves grew as the Cotton gin grew too. Many slaves hated it even if it made their jobs "easier" it made the expectations higher, and more cotton was expected to be made. A work for 12 slaves soon became a job for a single one with just the gin.

    When interchangeable parts were created it had a whole change in people's lives. They no longer had to go out, and buy a completely new car, gun, etc. they could go, and get it fixed by just paying for an interchangeable part. It differently helped wars and saved time having to just fix one thing instead of replacing the entire thing. This definitely was a lifesaving invention because without it that job would be hard to do. It changed back then lives and it's a big impact on us to this day too.

    It doubled the size of America the moment it got purchased. With this purchase, Thomas Jefferson, sent Lewis & Clark out to explore the new lands. They met tribes and they accomplished/ failed to make relationships with them. This purchase did have some good things and bad. It increased the need for slavery in the south. The purchase was also one of the factors that led to the war of 1812. There was farmland for the new migrants that had just moved into the new country. That meant more farming.

    This act was banning America from trading with outside nations' goods. It didn't affect Britain or France, but it did have a great impact on America because it made people have to be independent and start working. This got people to start working to get the things they wanted and also needed. It made the others respect America for being able to be independent with goods. America did have to start working on growing. People needed to start finding jobs, and some business also began failing quick.
  • Manifest Destiny

    This was the time when many colonies started moving to the West along the way they created Railroads, and telegraphs using the Morse codes to communicate. It was a time for growing time for Americans, but a dangerous time for the Natives on the Western because they were forced to move further away from their lands. This did cause the need for slavery to increase and so more free and slave states were created. Though it was good for the growth of the country it did lead to starting the civil war.

    Henry Clay had the great support of people who liked him, and it got him into the secretary position when John Quincy won the presidency. Henry was the one who got America through tough times, and difficult events with the ideas he got. He helped the Union when it was fragile when it was in severe crisis impasses. He was in the senate as well, so he had quite a bit of power in his hands. He can be remembers as the one came up with the solution of the Compromise of 1850 and other compromises too.

    Trail of Tears
    This caused many of the Native to pass away since they were trying to move away to another state because Andrew Jackson sent them away. The new were diseases that came to be, and although the government had promised to keep land reserved for the Natives they slowly began taking over their land shrinking it. The hunger of the Natives grew but they didn't have their small crops they had planted in the lands before. They learned to hunt, and survive in the outside dangerous world they were sent to.

    Andrew Jackson was against this idea, and so he destroyed it. After the Bank was destroyed people panicked breaking out the Panic of 1837 which swept the country. The prices of things went down and people's wages did too. The need for workers also went down making many unemployed. People started thinking of the worst instead of the best outcomings. The outcome was a financial crisis with how people freaked out and worried over a lot of things. They recovered a bit after the California gold rush.

    Women could own land in Mississippi only if they were married. During this time women were also allowed to keep their own wages since they were now making money, and not depending on their husbands for everything. They also got the right to sue people if they felt like it should be done, and they could make their own wills. It took some time for the rights of women to slowly but gradually start growing and gain legal traction. This was also a sign of women finally recieving more rights like men.

    This was an invention that help people communicate with others in the past. They didn't communicate as we do now they had to use a Morse Code and figure out what they were saying by using their international Morse Code worksheet with all the keys. There could be communications through different locations, and it would travel and get to the location in mere minutes. Over time the Telegraph did become an older version of communication. Telephones were made, and fax machines with internet were too.
  • Compromise of 1850

    Compromise of 1850
    The compromise made some decisions and acts that would upset one side, but benefit the other half. The South gained the Fugitive Slave Act which if a slave escaped to a free state they were to be sent right back to the owner. The Northerns gained another free state also known as California. Slave trade at Washington D.C. also got abolished. This may have been a leak into the Civil War with the how things were going. The country was in need of help when it got passed helping us unite the country.
  • Uncle Tom's Cabin

    Uncle Tom's Cabin
    The author of this book was a woman, the daughter of Lyman Beecher, and the one who pushed war, to begin with her writing. She was an abolitionist who didn't support slavery and wanted to see the end of this. The book sold and was seen as a best-selling book at the time making Northerners want to end slavery more than ever before. It also became an extremely dangerous enterprise to own or even read a book in the South. Britains sympathy for the South gradually started becoming a weakening cause.
  • Dred Scott Court Case

    Dred Scott Court Case
    This case put the question if slavery really was not allowed in the northern states. Dred Scott was in the position of fighting for his freedom while living in a southern family household and living in a free state. This was one of the causes that led into the Civil War because people weren't happy with how Dred didn't get his freedom, especially slaves. This also led to enslaved people having no rights in the federal court. Dred "violated" the Missouri compromise because he was in a free state.
  • Election of 1860

    When the election began many people's emotions were all over the place with there being presidents of different parties. Once Abraham Lincoln was elected the Confederates started splitting from the Union. This would ultimately cause people to fight against each other leading into the Civil War. Abraham Lincoln knew he couldn't end slavery and so he made the emancipation proclamation which claimed that if South lost the war they would have to give up the right to own slaves, and rejoin the Union.
  • Anaconda Plan

    Anaconda Plan
    This was an organized setup by the Union that was used for the Civil War. It would block out the naval blockade of the Confederate littoral. It was a strategy for the Union and it was successful even though the Confederate boats managed to get through the blockade. this prevented the South from receiving supplies and halting the Cotton exports. This plan eventually failed because it was too difficult to enforce. It didn't end the war quickly, but it did manage to weaken the rebellion a lot more.
  • Civil War

    The Civil war began because the Confederates did not want to be a part of the Union anymore cause they would have to give up the right to own slaves and rejoin the union, and no longer be confederate states. This war was fought for four years, and the end result was the South lost to the Union. Slavery got abolished as said in the emancipation, and the union became one. It would later lead to the reconstruction of America. South also had to make a new constitution for African Americans to vote.
  • Homestead act

    Homestead act
    This was offering Americans to move over to the Western, and live there for 5 years while trying to make something out of the 160 acres they were given. This would be invading the lands of the Natives which were reserved for them to have. It would also later cause the Natives to start their own things similar to the Americans. It would also make the Indians believe that they were adapting the American ways too much and so they would create their Ghost Dance to ask for forgiveness for their ways.
  • Pacific Railroad act

    This helped people be able to earn money and some land not far from the railroads. it did give the American people a way to travel across the country a lot safer, and easier. This was a big deal it was built during the time of war, and given limited time to build it, but since it was more like competition it was done before the deadline they had been given. It benefited a lot of people with the ability to travel, and be able to trade goods too. It was also dangerous yet many risked it for money.
  • Reconstruction era

    During this era, three amendments were passed one of them being abolishing slavery. The others were given citizenship birthright, and equality of being treated the same, and granting the right for colored people/ everyone (except women) to vote. This era also was an attempt to reconstruct the country, and bring back the Confederate states into the union, and this happened after the Civil war ended. It was also when the economy, politics, and social societies were being improved during this time.
  • Amendment 13

    this would abolish the idea of owning slaves after the Civil War was won, and the Confederate states had to join back the union, and accept not having slaves. They would have to rejoin the Union by having the requirements, and once that was done they could no longer have any slaves. All slaves that were freed were able to start looking for a job, but some would not be able to find some, so they would end up going back to a similar job as a slave. The Southerners would do their best to keep them.

    Franklin did die unexpectedly because of a shot in the head, and a few hours later. He had accomplished so much during his presidency before having to pass it down to his vice president. This may not have been a good time for Johnson, since he was there for the time the Reconstruction era happened. He did a lot during his presidency like pay off the debt the nation had, and he also was part of the senate briefly. Also invaded the Tenure of Office Act which would get worse, and get him impeached.

    The first impeachment was at the same time as Andrew Johnson's presidency after getting it from Abraham Lincoln's sudden death. He made many good things for the nation like paying off its debt and he attempted to re-form the country under his presidency. He didn't have any sort of plans to protect the former slaves. The Tenure of Office Act was his trying to get Edwin Stanton out of the office to get General Lorenzo Thomas as secretary of the war ad interim. with no intentions of helping slaves.
  • Yellowstone National park created

    Yellowstone National park created
    This park was created to protect, and preserve the geysers and hot springs of the region it was also to protect the herds of bison since they had been recently hunted down a lot at the time to the point it could have caused extension. They also protected elk, and other wildlife that was living in the area, so no one could come in, and kill every single one of them. This was closed off by the Homestead Act mining laws, and other public statutes. Protecting the creatures, and letting people visit.
  • Civil Rights act of 1875

    This gave all the citizens born in America their rights, and access to things. This act would stop discrimination throughout the whole country, and make it equal for all citizens to have rights. It also did help voting rights increase, and enforcing strengthen as well Kids be allowed to go to school which couldn't before, and there would be a noticeable change in color, race, etc. in the people. In 1883 it was overturned, and people had to go look for legal recourse in the unsympathetic states.

    The founding fathers helped lead the Revolution war and rebuild the nation from scratch. They tried to make the first government but it failed because the government was weak, and was mostly focused on things the people feared from their old ruler. They tried to make America a Free place for everyone. The Founding Fathers mostly focused on making a stable government and making the place a peaceful/ free place for everyone there. They didn't want a hungry powerful government like they did before.
  • Dawes Act

    This was done by the Natives. Very similar to the Homestead Act which did inspire it but it wasn't for the Americans but for the Native Americans. This would eventually cause many Natives to leave their tribes behind, and their culture just so they could receive land, and culture. At some point, things began to happen to the remaining ones, and they believed their Gods were upset with them for doing things the American way, so they would come up with their Ghost Dance which would be banned soon.

    The Plessy V. Ferguson. They had the Supreme Court take part in this which establishes the Legality of the 'Separate but Equal'. Jim Crows also take advantage and gets Plessy to Jim Crows laws legal. It was getting worse if the Black were to go more into the South they would be restricted from a lot more stuff than in the Northern they went. That doesn't mean that it didn't occur in the North of course not as much as in the South, but it did happen just a bit. It happened in various places too.

    The NAACP was an organization in which colored people fought for their rights, and equality. They wanted justice, and weren't going to stop fighting for it till they got the justice they deserved. They wanted better lives for themselves, and their future generations to come. The colored people just wanted a better life, and hoped that making these organizations would help get to the point in time. The NAACP would lead to winnning of the Civil rights era and with many acts to come towards it too.

    The Great Migration was one of the largest movement of people in the United States History. This was a time where Black African Americans moved from the South to the Midwest to hopefully have an easier life. This caused the population of the Midwest grow quickly. There were problems with the more people coming over to the Midwest with housing. This was also the first large urban black communities in the North. It was still a great time for the black people because it showed that they had rights.

    The Victory of the Gardeners aid the war efforts because it helped with supporting the army. This helped have more food for the veterans, and have food available for people. The President was the one to actually start assigning the start of planting food, so that they wouldn't go through the shortage of food. This was a great time for citizins to help with the war by growing food to support the soldiers out there in the war. People planted anywhere they could their backyards to churchyards, etc.

    WW1 was the time when Germany was trying to break up the Alliance France and Russia had together. During WW1 inflation occurred which caused a lot of prices to go up, and people to struggle to pay for stuff. It did destroy empires and also created several individual countries. It encouraged independency and America became one of the world power to lead Societ Communism and it led to the rise of Hitler. It did give women a stronger voice and they were able to work more to support their families.

    Communism was probably one of the reasons why WW2 started, and how it spread quite quickly around the old world. It took over several countries, and America feared in actually have communist people among their people. Especially the government. The slightest signal that you were communist, and you could lose your job or get sent to jail, and be blacklisted. Communism was also a reason if not the main reason as to why North Korea and South Korea ended up in the cold war, and the U.S. joined them.

    The Treaty was made to represent the end of WW1. Everyone blamed Germany for being the reason to start the whole war in the beginning. The Treaty was made saying that Germany had to pay for all the damages done, including the loss of territories, and more. This though people hoped it was the end proved to be just the start of something else. Germany would autimitaly be wanting to get revenge and not wanting to pay off the debt they were in especially with the amount of debt they were stuck with.

    The fourteen points were made during the Postwar to help the countries. First one was that any sort of Treaty has to be done and everyone including civilians is aware of it and does not hide it from the country. The making of a treaty without anyone else knowing about it had occurred and was one of the reasons as to why the fourteen points had been written. It also gave the freedom to trade, and be in the waters, as well as having fewer weapons and more. The League of Nations was the 14th point.

    There was an increase on income during this time, and that meant that people bought more goods. There was a sort of cycle for it people would earn more money, and then they would buy more purchases from there, the companies earned higher profits, and lastly the companies would expand plus hire more people in the progress. There was more pollution on earth too because of this cycle that started growing. This would make the people in middle class try to keep up to the first class which meant debt.

    The League of Nations came from the fourteen points, and was actually the fourteen point. It was created to provide a forum for resolving international disputes. This way places outside the countries could cooperate together internationally, and be able to accomplish international peace within several other countries. It did fail though aggressors nations undermining its authority also down its own members. Britain and France didn't listen to it just to appease Hitler which would lead into WW2.

    This party was the one that Adolf Hitler ruled over, and got to go against the Jews and caused a lot of deaths. They grew in the time being that no one ever thought about fighting them so they wouldn't take over countries. This party led to the creation of the Holocaust which would later be the deathbed for many Jews who suffered got sick starved and got some unknown operation/experiment done on them. Hitler also broke the Treaty of Versailles causing more of a bigger war to start which was WW2.

    Throughout WW1 women began working more to be able to support their families, and not starve while their husbands were off at war. The same thing continued into WW2, and women haven't stopped working since that day. This showed a different system from what they were used to which would lead Women to have their share in Civil Rights and of course their share in being able to vote. they protested for their right to vote just like everyone had to to get what they wanted, and later they achieved it.

    USSR was a communist party. It was also an enemy of America since we both had a very similar party, and it meant fighting between powers. They weren't just enemies because of similar things, but also because of money, resources, allies, weapons technology, and more. There was a "war" between both of them which was like a cold war. The USSR was the first Socialist party out there, but also the first country to become a communist country. Which is how communism began to grow, and expand with time.

    This act was made to stop the number of immigrants from being high, and have fewer people come over. This would mean that proximally only two percent of the immigrants would be able to actually come over to America. It mostly affects the Eastern and Asian people, but later it would also reach Mexico, and it was during the Depression era. It may seem like a positive thing to Americans the decrease in immigration though it was a negative effect on the immigrants since that's where they ran off to.

    It was one of the worst downturns in America's economy. This would cause many people to lose their jobs and they couldn't be paid for their work. People would suffer from hunger and businesses failing and falling apart. The banks started failing and falling apart since no one really needed a place to keep their money at. This affected families and suicide increased. Some may not have suffered as much as others but it didn't mean that they didn't have any negative effect on them with this occurs.
  • Great Depression

    The Great Depression was a very horrible time for Americans many didn't have any way to earn money, and had no food to eat on the table. Men left their families just so women, and their kids could hopefully have help out of pity from other families. This time just made a lot of factories, industries, etc. crash down, and America was crumbling down to pieces. The number of poverty grew with more people becoming homeless. The lines waiting to get a bit of old bread at bakeries also grew with time.
  • Dust Bowl

    Dust Bowl
    The Dust Bowl was a massive cloud of sand that would end up covering entire farmlands, and get as high as the size of a home. This would cause the amount of food to be limited, and people to struggle in getting food to eat. This led to an agricultural Depression which would also connect to the many other causes that led up to the Great Depression. Farmers who couldn't grow any sort of crops struggled to make money and that would lead them to lose their lands and go homeless, and go into poverty.
  • New Deal

    The New Deal brought a lot of programs into existence. This helped the people be put back to work, and that was a big thing at the time. This would help businesses in growing, and getting better as the company grew. Some of the programs it brought were the Civilian Conservation Corps, Soil Conservation Service, Soil Erosion, Planting Trees and many more programs out there. They weren't just made to help the rich but it also benefitted practically everyone who had a way to earn money and survive.

    The Holocaust was around the time when WW2 was taking place and the number of people that were captured for being Jews. This was one of the reasons to start of WW2 because it led to people wanting their freedom, and also not receiving proper care. Many people died because of this event, Anne Frank being one of them who kept a diary throughout her time hidden away. Jews had to struggle a lot because of Hitler planning this and making people go against the Jewish causing the war to grow with time.

    When the economy was crashing down, and people began losing their money from the banks it was time to look into it. People rushed to get their money out when they heard that they would be closing the Banks down and maybe even forever. This was done to keep the safer banks functioning and the corrupted or non-functional to be closed down. It was also to regain trust with the bank system again. This was caused because of the depression and how things started going downhill as time went on longer.

    This was a relief to the Indians who had lost most of their lands and were struggling to keep their own people okay. They lost a lot once the English began to come over and take over. This Act was able to give them land so that they wouldn't be left without any land. They also got the rights that they had no matter what anyone did. This act was a lifesaver for them because without it Indians would have lost everything in a short amount of time. People who wanted to explore didn't like it though.
  • U.S Neutrality Act

    U.S Neutrality Act
    This act made it illegal to trade or even sell weapons, or any other war material to belligerent nations. This act was made to hopefully be successful in keeping America out of any war. That didn't occur until we see America becoming one of the allies in war to fight against the German Nazis, and Japan in December 1941. Passing this act also ended the munitions embargo on a "cash and carry" basis. It may have helped in the beginning, but with not being able to travel it was a problem in America.

    WW2 was started because Hitler was trying to gain power by taking control of most of the Eastern countries. No one paid much attention to it until he had gained so much power it was harder to defeat. The Holocaust would take part of this time too. This led to a long war, and Germany was blamed for the war that was started. It caused many people to lose their lives not just in the military but civil civilians too. The food shortages started occurring more once war started which didn't help much.

    No one was expecting an attack that day but when they started seeing explosions go out the Americans knew they were being attacked. A lot of planes flew above the Americans dropping bombs everywhere. They exploded ships which was done so America wouldn't join the war in Eastern Asia. Many more Americans were dead than the Japanese because they were unaware of the ambush the Japanese were planning. There was lots of oil lost and people were trapped under ships when explosions were thrown at them.

    President Franklin Roosevelt authorized the forced removal of all people who were deemed a threat to national security from the West Coast to relocation centers further inland resulting in the incarceration of Japanese Americans. They wanted to remove the Japanese from any government position or army out of fear that they could happen to plan another attack like they had before. It wasn't named who was to be executed but it mostly was aiming at any Japanese person that could be in that position.
  • C.O.R.E

    C.O.R.E
    C.O.R.E - Congress of Racial Equality was established as another Civil Rights Organization that mostly focused on peaceful Racial Equality. They had several of numbers of organizations with their own kind of protest, Court Cases and much more. Was to shed the light on inequality and discrimination. They had made fifty-three chapters throughout the U.S. in just the movements they had. Focused on segregation and launching voter registration for the African-Americans who wanted the ability to vote.
  • D-Day (June 6, 1944)

    D-Day (June 6, 1944)
    Lots of small boats came out of bigger ones from the ocean, and attacked quickly. It began to get overwhelming, and was known as the largest invasion ever assembled. It was considered a turning point too. It did last for seven days straight. It is unknown how many people truly died that day, and so they didn't say any number except for the only bodies that were founded. The event included boats, planes, bombers fighters, and troops planes. In seven days the allies captured 80 miles of the beach.

    It was an idea/ theory that would explain how once a country fell into communism then more trouble it meant because it would eventually weaken the allies, and maybe turn the entire world into a communist. This would lead to many countries siding with one another, and trying to fight off communism or take over with communism. It was a very good theory on how things could end up crumbling to pieces and ruining the other types of governments there were around the world. A visual explanation of war.

    This was a result of 'WW2' and how America was rebuilding itself. This was a time when everything people wanted was just to be able to go back to their normal schedules and live out of fear, and danger. They couldn't get there quickly though many people suffered, and lived in poverty. They had to start from scratch from getting a job to getting home, and food. We do also see the Baby Boom occur during this time too, the G.I. Bill of Rights being passed, and the Subrubs being created altogether.
  • National Security Act

    National Security Act
    This came to be a thing when Truman focused on the reorganizing the structure of the U.S. Army forces which later followed with the WW2. It also created the Office of Defense to oversee the nation's military establishment. The National Security Act was made which separated three parts of the Army. It was a comprehensive program for the future security of the United States. This helped the Army because it was able to develop and change the Old Navy into a more modern and more of an improved army.
  • Cold War

    The Cold War is an ongoing political rivalry between the United States and the Soviet Union and their respective allies that developed after WW2. It wasn't just them, but Korea was also struggling, and America sent some troops to be able to fight North Korea which had become a communist too and was spreading. It was a tight fight at some point but America made a plan which managed to distract and give them an opportunity to fight back and actually push back Korea. Korea still has troops in case.
  • Jackie Robinson

    Jackie Robinson
    Rackie was the first black person to be able to play in baseball with a wide audience. He became an inspirational figure to many young kids with how he was able to be a part of what none of them ever could. He put up with many insults that were thrown at him every time he was out in the public. By following his wish of being a baseball player he was able to become an important symbol and set on stage an example for the civil rights movement. That would help the future kids to fight too like him.
  • Marshall Plan

    Marshall Plan
    Proposed that the United States provide economic assistance to restore the economic infrastructure of postwar Europe. Main purpose of the Marshall Plan was to prevent the spread of communism in Western Europe. This plan was a success. It was also successful to be responsible for the start of the Cold War. Union Soviet had no interaction, but did have a friendly European government with financial assistance to rebuild their economies in order to reduce the appeal of communism among those nations.
  • Nato

    What NATO stands for is North Atlantic Treaty Organization. Nato is a formal alliance with America. The Main purpose it had was to defend each other from the possibility of the communist Soviet Union taking control of their nation. It is in between Europeans and North America. It strengthens international ties between member states. It was a combat to spread the spread of communism. Its main purpose of it was to assist in providing protection against the Soviet Union. it was to safeguard Allies.
  • 3rd Great Awakening

    3rd Great Awakening
    This lasted for about twenty years, and it mostly focused on religions. Growth in churches grew instantly which is known as the attendance boom. The church was playing a part for the community as a conformity during this time around. TVs were also used as a way to be able to spread ideas around much more quicker. Almost the whole society was considering themselves Christian or any other form of religious. It promoted social activism such as the temperance movement. Billy Graham was popular too.
  • Brown v. Board of Education

    Brown v. Board of Education
    This time was a very difficult time for the colored people to get proper education because they would get the old stuff. They wanted the same level of knowledge as the White people did, and this would lead to the 'Little Rock Nine' in high school and Ruby Bridges for the elementary school. Teachers quit their job because they were about to teach with some black kids in their classes. Martin led this which would not include fighting back so that the news couldn´t make them look like the bad guys.
  • Martin Luther King Jr.

    Martin Luther King Jr.
    He was the one to start getting his colored skin people to start fighting for what was right. They wanted to be treated equally and get the same rights as Whites did. He was a part of the March to Selma, and though he didn't go through it the second time, and got criticized, he still got his people through the bridge on the third attempt. His famous speech "I Had a Dream" also inspired a lot of people to keep fighting for what was rightfully theirs. He helped with Civil Rights and Voting Rights.
  • Emmit Till

    Emmit Tills crime had no justice after being brutally murdered by two White man. He wasn't from the South, but had family in the South that they had gone to go visit. He went to a story, and at some point 'whistled' at a white women. Two man saw, and they went after him. Emmit was kidnaped from his family, and found in a horrible condition. This helped grow the Civil Rights movement, in the 50's. The men who did this to him were put on trial but managed to get away with it, and later would brag.

    She is like a symbol that represented the start of a movement to the start of ending the struggle for racial equality. Just sitting in the seat of a White person showed the courage that the colored skin people were about to show as time went on. Rosa Parks was just the light at the beginning of the end of unfair treatment. This would later lead to the bus boycott for a year. Which the bus company almost had to close because of losing about 70% of the customers that helped sustain their business.

    The presidential election of 1960 was quite an election. Nixon had a great speech, and everything he said made sense but when on tv for having no makeup on and looking around as he looked at his notes people from home saw an unprepared candidate. On the other hand, John F. Kennedy had come from a rich family. Had connections to the mafias, and so he knew how to dress to impress on TV and let his makeup be done when giving his speech he stood still as he looked at the camera looking professional.
  • Ruby Bridges

    She was the first to go to an all white school in elementary. Similar to The Little Rock Nine, but they were for much older schools to go to High school. This was the a risky thing to do so for everyday of the school year Ruby would be escorted from home to school and the same for after school. School to home by an armed federal marshals as protesters waiting outside the school everyday getting food thrown at them and insults. This was all connected to how they fought for education for the kids.
  • Lunch Counter Sit-In

    Lunch Counter Sit-In
    College students started sitting in restaurants asking to be served a cup of coffee. If they are refused they would sit there which caused a scene. Later the restaurants would notice that they began losing customers ever since the colored people came and just sat waiting to be served. The people would watch to see if a scene was made, and eventually, several restaurants gave in and served them their cup of coffee because they didn't want to keep their chances of going bankrupt to grow with time.
  • SNCC

    SNCC
    SNCC- Students Non-Violent Coordinating Committee. This was an organization that allowed not just black students to participate but also allowed white students to take part in it. This was made because the kids also wanted to take part in the Civil Rights Movement, and they organized their own committee. They weren't like the older generation though and so the slow process really annoyed them, and wanted to rush the process of it. That meant that they managed to get themselves into fights often.
  • John F. Kennedy

    John F. Kennedy
    President John F. Kennedy was voted into the White House in 1961, and he soon started planning an invasion of Cuba. He came up with the "Bays of Pig Invasion". He removes the American Tanks and the airport. This plan was made by the formal president before J.F.K. but he failed to go through with it properly causing Cuba to become Communist too. This did worry a lot of people because it meant America was close to a communist country. J.F.K. did do a lot of things besides losing that before dying.

    After John F. Kenney was assassinated many people were sad and worried because coming into the White House people had seen him and the lovely family he had, so everyone focused on them. After his assassination, the country was traumatized about losing a president and so Congress got to work on making the twenty-fifth amendment. Which was that if a president were to be removed from his position or died they would be replaced by their Vice president. This act has been used before an ex: being JFK.
  • Voting Right Act of 1965

    Before this act was passed few maybe even just a couple of colored people could vote, but many wouldn't be able to vote at all. Protests began to occur because of how unfair the voting system was and how colored had to take a test when most of them barely had any sort of education. This would annoy them to the point they decide to protest about equality and their right to vote in the upcoming elections in the future. They would later win the test was banned and they were finally allowed to vote.

    Peaceful Protests were done constantly for the day when Black people could see the Civil Rights Act pass. They avoided trying not to fight back for many days and though a few fights broke out they didn't fight back. The many programs and organizations made did help even if some were made from the children. Martin was in charge of the programs made for adults he also was inspirational to most people. He never gave up and kept trying to win. On the day of the signing he was there to see it happen.
  • Great Society

    The Great Society was made by Johnson soon after John F. Kennedys assassination occurred. This was a great thing for the citizens because it gave them many more programs that benefitted them. Some of the acts that were made or got better than they were already. Some examples were; poverty, Medicare, Pure Air, Miranda RIghts, Air Act 1967, the Immigration Act, and Urban Housing are some of the acts that were helped developed or create them. It was very similar to the New deal, but in its own way.

    President Nixon managed to improve the relationship that America had with the U.S.S.R.. He also managed to end the war in between Vietnam. He did spend money on a lot of things to make them be better than they were already. He was successful in foreign affairs. Nixon was a very good president and people admired him, and the great things he was accomplishing. So when people found out about the watergate people were worried. Nixon didn't plan it to win, but when he found out hi hid it from public.
  • Equal rights amendment introduced to Congress

    Equal rights amendment introduced to Congress
    The Equal Rights Amendment was introduced to Congress by a woman. Women didn't have as many rights as men did, and they found that unfair especially once they started working during WW1 and WW2. It wasn't just White women or women though Black women and men also wanted their share of rights, and so they would struggle more, and get their rights much later in America's History which would be their Civil Rights. Congress had seven years to approve it, and within a year most states had approved it.
  • September 11 attacks

    The 9/11 attack was an attack on a regular day where no one suspected anything bad was going to happen until it happened. America was a chaos because at first they thought it was an accident, but once the second plane crashed they realized it was a terrorist attack. Many people died at the moment, ans many died because of the dust the breathed in that day. George W. Bush was the one to start the process of this war, but it was passed down to Obama once he became the president of America in 2008.
