  • Davy Crockett filmed in Great Smoky Mountains

    Disney filmed Davy Crockett in the great Smoky Mountains which drew attention to the park and inspired theme parks that brought people from all around.

  • Appalachian Museum opens

    This museum is a Smithsonian affiliate and a non-profit organization.

  • World's Fair

    Knoxville hosted the World's Fair that is considered to be the last successful world's fair!

  • Dollywood opens

    Dolly Parton reclaimed Silver Dollar City and reopened it as Dollywood.

  • Tennessee Aquarium Opens

    Tennessee Aquarium opens in Chattanooga as the largest freshwater aquarium.

  • Moonshine is legalized
