  • Black Land Act

    Black Land Act
    This act didn't allow blacks to own or rent any land outside from areas designated to their race. This was an early stage of Apartheid South Africa.
  • The Natives Urban Areas Act

    The  Natives Urban Areas Act
    The cities were mainly the property for white people. Local governments would determine where Blacks could or couldn't go. Black people could also be kicked out from an area if this was part of the white's territory.
  • The Industrial Conciliation Act

    The Industrial Conciliation Act
    This act allowed white people to create labor unions but it didn't allow black people to. This would give more skilled jobs to whites and also restrict a black persons working opportunity.
  • The Minimum Wages Act

    The Minimum Wages Act
    This act favored and gave privileges to white employment over black people. Black people would get the unskilled job which would pay lower than the skilled jobs which made it more difficult for the black people.
  • The Mines and Works Act

    The Mines and Works Act
    This act gave more work to Black people in order to save money since blacks worked for low wages. Black people would now make about a tenth of what the average, skilled white worker would make.
  • The Native Trust and Land Act

    The Native Trust and Land Act
    This act allowed the government to purchase all land that is now yet owned by the state. This act gave more land to blacks, but it also gave the government control over everything at that land. Lastly, black people could easily be evicted from the land if they did not follow the rules.
  • The Representation of Natives Act

    The Representation of Natives Act
    This act removed the ability of allowing black people to vote. Black people would have a small say in issues by having white representatives.
  • Population Registration Act

    Population Registration Act
    Everyone in South Africa now had to be classified with a race based off on biological factors and not cultural factors. This race would be used to classify and give privileges to white while segregating blacks.
  • Bantu Authorities Act

    Bantu Authorities Act
    This act removed the white representative group for the black people. Instead, blacks would now have new regional authorities who were also black, making white and black people nearly entirely separated.
  • Natives Act

    Natives Act
    This law enforced segregation between blacks and whites even more. Black people would now have to carry a pass book wherever they went which allowed them to enter and exit the city for work. If someone is caught without their pass book, they would be charged with an offence.
  • Bantu Education Act

    Bantu Education Act
    This act allowed only one racial group at a school, separating blacks and whites even more from a young age.
  • Reservation of Separate Amenities Act

    Reservation of Separate Amenities Act
    This law prohibited blacks from entering certain locations. This would include places like toilets, parks, and beaches as they were marked by signs.
  • Bantu Self-Governing Act

    Bantu Self-Governing Act
    This act attempted to make 10 groups of natives who would become a self-government group led by black leaders with the supervision of a commissioner.
