The day I was born.
-
My mother read Runny Babbit to me along with Green Eggs and Ham by Dr. Seuss. It was my earliest memory of literature that I had.
-
3rd grade was around the time I started to read some different types of novels/stories.
-
Magic Treehouse books and Goosebumps by R.L. Stine
-
Fever 1793 was the first really sad and dark themed novel I had read but really showed me how the relationships between characters can develop.
-
I started to read more in-depth novels by this time, especially in 7th and 9th grade
-
A very dark story of a girl who runs away from her abusive father and find family in an unexpected place.
Taught me the value of family even if they are not blood related -
A story of a hispanic girl who lives in a poor family and has also found much hardship in her life.
Also taught me the value of family but with a different cultural experience. -
Being faced with several different dark themes as I had gotten older definitely influenced me as a writer. Was a new world of literature to me.
-
My first short story using examples like Fever 1793 and Goosebumps for the explicit and gore imagery used in my story
-
A novel well-known for the feminist outlook that the main character possesses. Also very informative of the justice system and how it treated people of color and exposed the views that society held against mentally disabled people.
-
In 11th grade I had read Animal Farm, a novel centered around farm animals that mocked the start of communistic Russia. It gave me more insight as to how communist Russia actually started with the animals representing the historical people in real life.
