    sail to the new, mysterious land, which they called Virginia in honor of Elizabeth I, and began a settlement.The stablished Jamestown, Virginia, on May 14, 1607, the first permanent British settlement in North America.

    The Mayflower reached the Cape COd coast of America.The Pilgrim leaders [ersueded 41 of the male adults aboard the ship to sign an agreement which would set up a government in Plymouth Colony. The agreement was called the Mayflower Compact. The Mayflower Compact was the first written framework of government established in what is now the United States.

The Albany Plan of Union was a plan to place the British North America colonies under a more centralized government .On July 10, 1754, representatives from seven of the colonies adopted the plan.
