    Andrew Jackson was born in a log cabin in South Carolina. He was the son of an Irish immigrant.

  • Battle of New Orleans

    Andrew won the last batttle of the War of 1812. He succeeded in preventing the Britis army from gaining control of the might Mississippi River. After ths battle, he was known as a national hero.
  • Battle of Horseshoe Bend

    Jackson's army of 3,300 men attacked Red Stick Creek warriors in the last battle of the Creek War. This victory both won the U.S. the war, and gained the United States 23,000,000 acres of land.
  • Election of 1824

    Jackson went against William Crawford, and Henry Clay, and John Q. Adams. Jackson won most of the votes, but Adams ended up becoming president in the they believe was an "under-the-table" deal. Jackson felted cheated, and never forgave Henry Clay (who he thought was involved in the deal).
  • Election of 1828

    This was a brutal election in which the 2 parties focused solely on making the other party look bad( news reports on the personal lives of the candidates, etc.). Jackson won the election with te promise that he would make the common man a higher class.
  • Indian Removal Act

    This was a law signed by Jackson forcing all of the Native American tribes East of the Mississippi to move across to the West side.
  • Nullification Crisis

    Jackson struggled against some states over a protective tarrif. The states decided just to get rid of the tarrif on their own. This would make the states look like they were more powerful than the national gov., and in the end, Henry Clay had to pass a billl to prevent any further argument.
  • Bank War

    Jackson believed that a second too much power in managing the economy, and he decided to shut it down.
  • Death

    Sadly, Andrew Jackson-a national hero-died in Tennesse. He had been ill, partly due to two gunshot wounds and sicknesses.
