    Andrew Jackson was born in Waxhaw, North Carolina in a log cabin.
  • Battle of Horshoe Bend

    Battle of Horshoe Bend
    A group of indians known as red sticks were attacking frontier settlements due to them being kicked out of their land. The frontier settlements appealed to the federal government and the government took action. At the battle of horseshoe bend jackson and his troops beat 1000 red sticks killing 800 of them.
  • Battle of New Orleans

    Battle of New Orleans
    On the morning of December 23, 1,800 British soldiers reached the east bank of the Mississippi River preparing to invade. Andrew Jackson was not happy with this. So he retaliated with the Battle of New Orleans. This was a complex battle on the outer edges of New Orleans which led to a victory and British troops retreating.

    William Crawford, Henry Clay, John Quincy Adams, and Andrew Jackson ran against each other in a presidential election. Although Jackson won the popular vote, Adams won the election. Jackson was furious and said that the election was staged. Adams became the sixth president of the United States, and Jackson vowed vengeance against him.

  • Worcester v. Georgia

    Worcester v. Georgia
    A court case in which the state of georgia passeda law requiring all whites living in Cherokee Indian Territory to obtain a state license to live there. Seven missionaries refused to obtain licenses. They were arrested and sentenced to four years of hard labor. However Samuel Worcester was opposed Cherokee removal and was the postmaster to the cherokee capital New Echota. The governor of Georgia persuaded the federal government to make him subject to arrest.

    Andrew Jackson was never fond of the National Bank. He thought that the president of the bank and the administors of the bank were using it for their own personal gain. He didn't take action against the bank until the cut back on loans, which hurt farmers in the west. After the two parties clashed and argued, Jackson vetoed the bank's charter when it was up for renewl. This marked the end of the National Bank.

    South Carolina nullfied the Tariffs of 1828 and 1832 within its borders. Soon, Andrew Jackson used military force to force South Carolina to drop the nullification. A newly negotiated tariff was passed and the crisis was over.
