    After the end of the War of 1812 with the signing of the Treaty of Ghent, the Battle of New Orleans took place due to a loack of communication between the two armies and the diplomats. Andrew Jackson achieved the biggest victory of his life by defeating a British invasion.

    The Nullification Crisis was due to high tarrifs in the United States. States like South Carolina nullified the tarrifs, which eventually led to government action. South Carolina threatend to secede from the union, thus provoking Andrew Jackson to take action. Jackson called upon an old enemy by the name of Henry Clay to solve this issue. Clay developed a treaty/compromise, lowering tarrifs. In addition, the president can now take military action if a state threatens to seced again.
