Election of 1824
The election of 1824 is known as the corrupt barigain. It was called this because the house of representatives breaks a tie and Henry Clay is high up in the house. It is said that Clay persuaded the house to make Adama when. Andrew Jackson was furious when he realized this but could do nothing about it for he couldn't prove it. -
Election of 1828
The election of 1828 was much different from the election of 1824. This time, without Clay helping Adams, Andrew won by a landslide. Since he won, he created the spoils system and put all of his loal supporters in office. Ths can be veiwed as a good or bad decision. -
Indian removal act
This was the darkest thing Jackson ever did in his two presidential terms. He basically removed all indians from U.S.A. soil and had tem go west of the Mississippi river. This is also known as the trail of tears, for many indians did not make the journey alive. -
Nullification crisis
The nullification crisis began with a tariff. As always, it only affected the southerners. Eventually, cause of the tariff, South Carolina threatened to secede if the tariff wasn't dropped. Clay compromised by lowering the tariff and giving the president power to attack a state if they seceded. -
Worcestor V Georgia
This was a court case indians had against the state of Georgia because Georgia was trying to remove them from their land. Well, the supreme court ruled against Georgia, but Andrew overuled them saying Georgia had a right to kick them off their land. -
Bank Wars
The bank wars were not literally battles, it was an issue that arose over chartering the bank of the United States. As you probably know, Jackson hated the idea of a national bank, so when it came time to renew the bank, Jackson didn't sign it. This abolished the idea of a national bank completely
