This was an important battle, because this battle showed France that we could hold our own and showed our courage. This is when Washington crossed Delaware. This was when the colonist defeated the Hessians; they were the most feared troops, for their brutality. Defeating the Hessians boosted the Colonist's morale. They split their army in two, one went straight in and while the other was to cut off the retreat to the south.

In this Battle the American patriots lost to the British. The British had more troops and most british were more experienced than the partriots. The patriots waited till the british came close. Then, they opened fired on the british they didn't want to waste their ammo.

Both sides saw New York as a important post. The British won this battle, the British used their navy and trapped Washington's army in Brooklyn. This put British in the conlonies and they had their base set.

The British captured Philadephia and the patriots lost. With this lost the French saw that the patriots were worth siding with. Washington was flanked and defeated and this lost gave British an opening to American Capital.

Horatio Gate won this battle, this win ended the British attempt to control the Hudson River. This convinced the King that the Americans can hold their own. The British Army used a Three-pronged attack on New York and one of the Armies went to Saratoga, because they needed the Hudson River.

During this time Washington's army went through hardships and lost a lot of people due to the climate and disease. They then then found a way to counter the diseases and they had a Purssian general. Baron Van Stuben helped the Americans by making the camp sanitary and trained the army and diciplined them.
