French and Indian War
The French and Indian War began in 1763 and ended with the Treaty of Paris. During this war it gave Great Britain a lot of land in North America. It determined the territory of the land. -
Stamp Act
British Parliament that extracted the revenue from American colonies, which started the Stamp Act. This act was in place for newsprint, legal documents. Helped encourage the movement against the crowd. -

Series of laws passed from British to America. This law took away freedom but the act was put on paper, paint, lead, glass, and tea. -
Boston Massacre
British soldiers shot and killed many people while being harassed by the crowds of Boston. Lead by Patriot leaders. It helped unite the colonies against Britain. -
Boston Tea Party
Political protest that happened on December 16th. American colonists were angry at British for ¨Taxation without Representation.¨ Chests of tea were dumped into the harbor. -
Coercive Acts
In response to the Boston Tea Party, the Parliament passed the Coercive Acts which enacted: The Boston Port Act, The Massachusetts Government Act, The Administration of Justice Act, and The Quartering Act. -
First Continental Congress
The First Continental Congress begun on September 5th, 1774 for the purpose of putting pressure on Britain to recall the Coercive Acts. They protested by boycotting every single British import. -
Second Continental Congress
Congress took on the responsibility of the war in the Second Continental Congress. George Washington was appointed the new command over the Continental Army. -
The Battles of Lexington and Concord
The two country towns, Lexington and Concord, began war because Thomas Gage sent troops to arrest John Hancock and Samuel Adams so he could get the Patriot weapons back. 70 Patriots vs. 700 British soldiers. 8 Patriots were killed. 200 British soldiers were wounded or dead. -
