American Revolution Timeline

  • French and Indian war

    this was a war between the French and the British army over the land. both sides were fighting over the territory that was west of the Appalachian Mountains.
  • proclamation of 1763

    this was when King George III of england declared that west of the Appalachian Mountains was territory of the Native Americans. This was the result of the French and Indian War.
  • Sugar act

    This act made the colonists pay a tax of per gallon on the importation of foreign molasses (sugar cane into sugar).
  • Stamp Act

    this act that made all the colonists pay taxes for beasicallly everything that is made of paper. For example newspapers, documents, letter and many other things. This act lasted till the 1st of November in1765.
  • The Quartering Act

    this act was a "hidden tax" which forced the colonists to provide food and shelter for British troops in exchange for protection. It lasted untill the year 1783.
  • The boston massacre

    On March 5th, 1770 a fight broke out between a group of British soldiers and a group of "patriotic" colonists. It is said that the group of colonists started the fight becausse they started aggravating the British soldiers. One of the red coats couldn't take it no more and shot one of the colonists. The group of colonists reacted by starting to fight, but of course the soldiers won because they had guns. The soldiers killed 5 colonists and the word spread rapidly.
  • the Tea Act

    colonist were forced to buy tea and the taxes on it were raised
  • THe Boston tea party

    the colonists raided the tea ships and dumped everything into the harbor They were revolting against the tea.
  • The Intolerable Act

    An act that was nade to close the Boston harbor because of the Boston Tea Party. thanks to the Boston Harbor closing, it ruined the economy they had going.
  • The battle of Lexington and Concord

    this is where the rebles and the british soldiers(red coats) fought
  • The Declaration of Independence

    The Declaration of Independence is a document that states the 13 original colonies announced that they were 13 independent states and no longer wanted to be ruled by Britain.
  • Articles of Confederation: First Constitution

    This was a document stating the purpose of the United States goverment after it declared Independence from Great Britain.
  • Battle of Yorktown: Final Battle of the American Revolution

    On the 28th of September 1781, George Washington declared war against the British and surrounded the british with the help of the French and the residents of the 13 colonies. After the deadky war the British finally surrendered on October 17, 1781.
  • Treaty of Paris: Officially ended the American Revolutionary War

    A document signed by Representives Of Great britian And the U.S this took place in paris and it offically ended The American Revolution war

    A re-write of law and purposes of the united states
