  • The French and Indian War

    The French and Indian War
    The French and Indian War was a war between Britain and France for the Ohio River Valley. As a result to the war, Britain got into debt which caused them to start taxing colonists. Since colonists felt they were being taxed without representation they got angry and refused to pay taxes. This caused tensions between Britain and the colonists which lead to the American Revolution.
  • Proclamation of 1763

    Proclamation of 1763
    The Proclamation of 1763 was an attempt by the British government that proclaimed colonists from settling west of the Appalachian mountains so they could avoid any future conflicts with Native Americans. As a result, the colonists didn't listen to the British and still settled west.
  • The Sugar Act

    The Sugar Act was a British policy that limited the sugar products American colonists could buy and sell. This caused colonists to get angry and protest against the act. The act also placed taxes and reduced the price of molasses.
  • The Stamp Act

    The Stamp Act was a British policy that required colonists to purchase stamps for all official paper publications. Since colonists felt they were being taxed without their consent, it caused them to get angry and boycott the act.
  • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre
    The Boston Massacre was a fight between the colonists and British soldiers on March 5, 1770. Colonists began to attack and harass British soldiers; this caused them to feel threatened and open fire on the colonist. The fight resulted in the death of 5 colonists.
  • The Tea Act

    The Tea Act
    The Tea Act was an act that required colonists to purchase from the British-owned East India Trading Company. This act was combined with the Townshend Act, which put a tax on tea. Since colonists were being used for monopoly, they started to protest and boycott the act, which resulted in the Boston Tea Party.
  • Boston Tea Party

    Boston Tea Party
    The Boston Tea Party was a protest made by the Sons of Liberty against the tea act. During the Boston Tea Party, colonists dressed up as Mohawk Indians and dumped 342 chests worth of tea into the harbor. This caused Britain to lose a lot of money and enact the Intolerable Acts.

    The Intolerable Acts
    The Intolerable Acts were the results of the Boston Tea Party. This policy closed down the Boston harbor, replaced the local government with an appointive one, protected British officials during law enforcement, required colonists to house British soldiers, and enacted the Quebec Act which removed territory and fur trade.

    Battle of Lexington and Concord
    The Battle of Lexington and Concord was the first battle that began the American Revolution. The reason for the Battle of Lexington and Concord was to capture Samuel Adams and John Hancock. It was also to destroy the American's weapon and ammunition storage.
  • Olive Branch Petition

    Olive Branch Petition
    The Olive Branch Petition was the last attempt to avoid any war with Britain. It included their loyalty to King George III and their rights as citizens. Unfortunately, King George III declined the petition which resulted in the American Revolution happening sooner.
