Navigation Act
A series of acts that helped the British. Taxed the colonies and imposed restrictions on colonial trade. The 13 colonies were upset due to lack of representation in these decisions. -
The End of the French and Indian War
With the Treaty of Paris getting signed, the French and Indian War had officially ended. Due to the war Britain needed money. The King decided to tax America as a result. -

The Boston Massacre
-A group of nine British soldiers killed
-Angry colonist attacked the soldier and the soldiers attacked back

The Tea Act
• British East India CO:
-monopoly on British tea imports
-many members of parliament held shares
-permitted the company to sell tea directly to the colonies
-Lord North expected the colonies to eagerly choose the cheaper tea
-America was upset due to lack of representation
-caused the Boston Tea Party -
The Boston Tea Party
-Colonist threw tea into the Boston harbor as a response to the Tea Act
-Britain was outraged and made the Coercive Acts as a response -
The Coercive/Intolerable Acts
1) the Port-Bill closed Boston until compensated
2) Quartering Act -private homes
3) Administration of Justice Act-British officials to be tried in England -
First Continental Congress
-55 delegates from 12 colonies (Georgia was not present)

was adopted by Congress on July 5th, 1775 as a last attempt to prevent war -

With the declaration signed and adopted, the colonies had officially became independent from Britain. -

U.S. Constitution Written
The U.S. Constitution, written by James Madison, signed but not adopted by the states on September 17th 1787 -
The U.S. Constitution is Adopted
With New Hampshire being the ninth and final state to ratify the constitution, the U.S. Constitution was officially adopted by the American people.
