    British officers killed 6 colonists.
  • Boston Tea Party

    Colonists threw out British tea.
  • First Continental Congress

    First Continental Congress
    Delagates from 12 of 13 colonies met in response to the Intolerable Acts to boycott British goods.
  • Second Continental Congress

    Second Continental Congress
    Met after War had began to establish Continental Army appointing George Washington the commander-in-chief.
  • Articles of Confederation adopted

    Articles of Confederation adopted
    First document of rights for colonies. Too much state power resulted in constitutional convention.
  • British sign Articles of Peace

    British sign Articles of Peace
    British officially offering peace to treaty to colonies.
  • Treaty of Paris

    Treaty of Paris
    Official end to Revolutionary War. Britain recognized America as a free country.
