    Continental General- William Prescott
    Prescott made his soldiers dig into the wrong hill on the night of June 16, 1776 so they can be ready when the british soldiers would attack. The battle of Bunker Hill actually took place on Breed's Hill. THe colonists waited a very long time until they started to shoot to make sure they will hit the Birtish soldiers.

    Washington was able to realize that he was trapped and that he will lose the battle so ho took his troops to Manhattan and when the British charged the trenches the trenches were empty. they did not know he had escaped. Washington had 9,000 troops. Washington lost a quarter of hic command.

    The attack was on the the morning after Christmas. They did this to suprise the Hessians who celebrate Christmas by having a few drinks and dancing. It was a suprise attack. There was a huge commotion between the British, the Hessians, and the Colonists.

    This battle was important for the Colonists to win so they can regain hope, but unfortunately they lost. There were many complications in the battle and some of the cauaultiy counts were incorrect.
  • Battle of Saratoga

    Continental General- Benedict Arnold, Danial Morgan, Horatio Gates
    A Polish General called Kosciusko helped out Gates and now was a volunteer on Gates' army. He created a wall of people in the army and they were unstoppable that he was scared to weaken them by detaching anyone.

    Continental General- George Washington
    The Colonists started the battle by attacking the British trying to prevent their transportation of baggage. The Colonists failed that but gained land and Britain passed their baggage through so it was kind of a tie but Britain swere still able to transport their supplies.
  • Capture of Savannah

    British General- Colonel Archibald Campbell
    Continental General- Robert Howe
    Robert Howe only had around 700 men and Campbell had 3100 and he still tried to keep Savannah. After he lost over 550 men he finally retreated. Britain wanted to capture Svannah since there was a large number of layalists there and they would have support.

    This battle was a huge impact for Americans since it was the turning point for the reconquest of South Carolina from the British. There was a streak of losing in the Caroinas until this battle. This battle brought hope to the troops that a win is still possible.

    Continental General- Nathanael Greene
    The British won even though they were outnumbered by about 3,000 people. This victory for the British really dissapointed the Colonists. They weren't very hopeful since they thought they would have the easy win an dthe British just crushed them.
  • Yorktown

    This was the battle that decided it all. Washington came prepared with more than double troops than Britain. This was the battle that made cornwallis surrender and end the conflict with an agreement. French helped the Americans in the battle.
