    Proclamation of 1763
    King George the 3rd issued a proclamation that no settlers could settle past a line drawn along the Appalachain Mountains. This was right after they won the French- Indian War and were excited about the open western frontier.
  • Stamp Act

    Stamp Act
    An act was passed that taxed every piece of paper the colonists used. It was viewed as a direct attempt from England to raise money without colonial agreemnet.
  • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre
    British soldiers killed 5 civilians and injured 6 others. There was already tension between the soldiers and the civilians, and the soldiers were verbally abused and harrassed. This caused them to fire into the crowd without orders.
  • The Intolerable Acts

    The Intolerable Acts
    A seires of laws passed by the British in 1774 after the Bouston Tea Party. The first act closed the Bouston Harbor until the East INdia Company ad been repaid for the damages. The second act was controlling Massachustus government, the fourth allowed soldiers to stay in civilian's houses.
  • Battle at Lexington and Concord

    Battle at Lexington and Concord
    The first battles fought in the Revolutionary War. British troops were sent out to capture Sam Adams and John Handcock at Lexington and gunpowder at Concord. These were the battles Paul Revere went on a midinght ride to warn people about.

    The Contenental Congress adopted the Articles of Confederation as our first constitution on November 15th, 1777. However, it was not ratified by the states until the date shown above.
  • Surrender at Yorktown

    Surrender at Yorktown
    General Cornwallis brought 8,000 troops to Yorktown. They expected ships to come to there aid, but they never arrived. This ultimently caused their surrender.
