    French and Indian War

    Also called the 7 years war this was a war between England and France for land in the new land. France owned land near present day Ohio and was constantly having problems with Virginia specifically so the British fought back. This lead to the treaty of Paris.
  • Proclamation of 1763

    Issued b the British at the end of the French and Indian War to separate the colonies from the native americans land.
  • Sugar Act

    New required tax of 6 pence per gallon of imported molasses. Hurt the production of all sugar related products because people couldn't afford it.
  • Quartering Act

    A new law Great Britain imposed stating that Brits were to be hosed, fed and prepared for battle by all colonists.
  • Boston Massacre

    Street Brawl that occured between the American Colonists and British soldiers. Which was started because the colonists didn't like the Brits being stationed in their town. Resulted in the BRits shooting the colonists.
  • Tea Act

    A new act imposed by Britain on the colonies to draw out the Indian tea company by giving it monopoly over the English tea company's sales. this then lead up to the Boston Tea Party
  • Boston Tea Party

    American Colonists dump 432 chests of tea worth thousands of dollars into Griffin's Wharf as first major act of defiance against Great Britain.

    MEeting in Carpenter hall PA to discuss what to do about the british as far as splitting up from Great Britain or staying as a seperate mini piece of the country. all states besides GA sent delegates.

    Discussed the creation of the continental army and the declaration of independence
  • Shot Heard 'round the world

    First shot that started the American Revolution. Occured when the British marched to Concord and the colonist's minutemen shot the british and kill about 3.
  • Common Sense

    PAmphlet written by Thomas Paine Stating that Americans should split from Britain because it is common sense, hence the name of the pamphlet
  • Declaration of independence

    DOcumentation stating the colonists independence from Great Britain. Written by Thomas Jefferson, Ben Franklin and John Adams.
