  • French and Indian War

    The French and Indian war started over arguing weather the Upper Ohio river valley was part of the British or French empire. This war was ended when the Treaty of Paris was signed. ABout 1500 people were killed.
  • The Treaty of Paris (1763)

    The Treaty of Paris was signed to end the French and Indian war. The treaty granted the US the Ohio Territory.
  • Pontiacs Rebellion

    Pontiacs Rebellion was a Native uproar against the British after the F+I War, thousands died. Pontiac was the leader of the Odawa tribe and led this rebellion after the British colonists expanded after the war.
  • Proclamation Line of 1763

    The Proclamation Line of 1763 stopped settling west of the Appilacian mountains. Colonists were very angry about this. They were forced to move
  • The Quartering Act

    The Quartering act required colonists to house the British soldiers. This upset the colonists because they were being taxed to pay for the army, many of them did not want to house the soldiers. The act was eventually repealed.
  • Townshend acts

    The Townshend acts was measures that taxed goods imported to the colonies. The American colonists saw this as unfair because they were being taxed without representation. The colonists boycotted good affected by the acts and eventually they were repealed.
  • Boston Massacre

    The Boston Massacre was a riot between the American Colonists and British soldiers. 6 colonists were killed. The Boston Massacre caused the Intolerable acts to be passed as a punishment to the colonists.
  • The Boston Tea Party

    The Boston Tea Party was another riot/protest by the American colonists. They were angry because they were being taxed without representation. Angry about this, they dumped chests of tea into the Boston harbor that were imported by the East India Company. The Intolerable acts were also put into place after The Boston Tea PArty as a form of punishment towards the colonists.
  • Tea Act

    The Tea Act was put into place to try and reduce the amount of tea that the British had. The colonists were angry about being taxed without being represented. The Tea act was eventually repealed.
  • Intolerable acts

    The Intolerable Acts were some laws passed after the Boston Tea party, which were meant to punish the colonists after their protests. Colonists ended up responding to the Intolerable Acts by forming the First continental congress.
  • First Continental Congress

    The First continental congress was when 56 delegates from all the colonies except Georgia met in Philedelphia to respond to the intolerable acts

    Common Sense, written by Thomas Paine is what helped the Declaration of Independence be written. Common Sense was propaganda in favor of the colonies seperating from England
