  • The Stamp Act of 1765

    The Stamp Act of 1765
    Britian created a tax on all printed materials and the Colonist were forced to pay. The colonist believed that it was unfair that they had to pay because they had no representative in Britain. The act was later replied in March of 1766. This event was asymmetrical because the colonist didn't expect the Britain to tax materials they used.
  • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre
    The Boston Massacre was the conflict between the colonist and soldiers. The soldiers were sent to enforce the new taxation law. The colonist on the night of the 5th threw snowballs at the soldiers. Making the soldiers angry, they fired and shot and killed three Americans and wounded two. The soldiers were later sent to trial.
    This is "Asymmetrical " because the colonist were throwing snowballs.
  • Boston Tea Party

    Boston Tea Party
    The Declaratory Act was in place and there was a tax on everything that the colonist bought, including tea. The colonist dressed as Indians and dumped the tea from the ship that needed to be unloaded into the Boston Harbor. This event was Asymmetrical because the British did not expect the colonist to rebel and dump all the tea into the harbor.

    The Battle of Lexington and Concord were the stat of the Revolutionary War. The battles started after the colonist dumped the tea into the Boston Harbor. This event is asymmetrical because the British didn't know that all the tea would be dumped into the harbor.
  • Bunker (Breed's) Hill

    Bunker (Breed's) Hill
    The British realized that the colonist weren't as dumb as they thought, and that this wasn't going to be an easy win. This was the first battle of the Revolutionary War and the rebels proved that they weren't backing down. This was an asymmetrical war, because the British didn't know they were coming.

    Thomas Jefferson wrote the Declaration of Independence, declaring the 13 colonies independent states. Declaring that all men were created equal. As well as they were no longer part of the British Empire.

    Battle of Trenton/Princeton
    During the Battle of Trenton, it was winter and the British were on a break from the war for the winter. The rebels plotted a surprise attack, making this event asymmetrical.

    It was cold outside, and snowy. The soldiers had no food and no money.
  • Battle of Saratoga

    Battle of Saratoga
    The Battle of Saratoga was a turning point in the Revolutionary War. The British's plan was to divide and conquer, and they were convincing the slaves to escape their plantations to come and fight for them and they would pay them. The colonist won the battle and the French were coming to help them fight.
    The Battle of Saratoga was not an Asymmetrical war.
  • War in the South

    War in the South
    The war in the south was supposed to last as long as possible so that maybe the British would give up. The British used slavery to their advantage by offering to pay the slaves if they came to fight, making this war asymmetrical. The patriots didn't like the British taking their slaves because that was their income.
  • Battle of Yorktown

    Battle of Yorktown
    The French surrounded the British and fired. The circle they were in got smaller and smaller. Eventually the British surrendered and laid down their guns. This was not an example of an asymmetrical war, because the French knew exactly what they were doing.
