French and Indian War
The war was the British against the French and Indians. They were fighting over North America. The reason this war was such an important battle over North America was because there was trade routes on the land that could be used. The British won the was in 1763. After the war, the British blamed the colonies for causing the war there fore making many laws to obey and making colonials pay taxes on many goods in order for the British to pay back the war debts. -
Proclamation Line
The Proclamation Line forbids all the colonies to expand westward and doesnt allow them to settle on the Ohio River Valley the British did this to make the king money and have the colonies depend on the British and so they would have to listen to King George The third This is important becuase it causes rioting and boycotts. -
Stamp Act
The Stamp Act was a tax put on all printed goods. The act put direct tax on everything from newspapers to dice. The cost ranged from one cent to ten dollars. People at this time felt their rights had been violated and so all the colonies got together to repeal the act. the act didnt get repealed until a year later in 1766.But that didn't end the acts put on the colonies. -
Boston Massacre
The Boston Massacre was a big deal to the colonials. although only 5 men were killed and 12 injured, people still sought it to be a mass killing. The massacre started by a few colonials tormenting the British and then there was a shot fired people to this day still do not know why or how the shots really started. But this event lead to many more hits against the British government. -
Tea Act
The tea act was a tax the king put on tea. He put it on tea because it was so popular back then that everybody bought it. Another reason the king put tax on tea was because a tea company the king favored was going bankrupt so he granted the company a monopoly so only that company was able to sell tea to the colonists. this outraged all the merchants. -
Boston Tea Party
People were so outraged with the Tea Act that some men put on indian costumes on hopped on a ship with alot of tea on it and dumped 1 million dollars of tea into the harbor. England sees this as a threat to the British rule. King George III is so angry he sends out troops to Boston and Mass. King George III is so angry he punishes all involved and make five new laws that will be aimed to punish Boston only. -
Intolerable Acts
The Intolerable Acts were made by the king to isolate Boston from other colonies. He sees it as fair punishment. he put British people in complete control by making you house feed and bed them, letting them get away with capital punishments, closed the port, cut off western colonies, and gave the British Governer complete control in order to take control out of colonists hands. This caused boycotts and all refusers of British Law were arrested. -
Declaration of Independance
Jefferson was chosen to be the author of the declaration of independance. What it basically was is a piece of paper perswaying people to get freedom it sounded sweet and made frredom sound like it is worth the fight. After all proof read and changed he had people sign it and then it was done. Now all it is time for a full out war.
