    Jamestown
    Jamestown, Virginia was the first place of settlement when Europeans decided to come to the Americas. "Pilgrims" came to settle and try to become a place of it's own and eventually something greater. Native Americans helped them out since they weren't agriculturly inclined and it was a significant event in our history because it was the start and the first steps to becoming a country and breaking away from Britian.
  • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre
    The Boston Massacre was when British Soldiers injured six and killed five male civilians. It started with an ongoing tension between the Patiots and British soldiers. Afterwards, the Partiots started insulting the authorities and creating a tension making them heated.It all ended with the British and Patriots/civilians shooting at each other resulting in death, injuries, and lawsuits. This was an event that lead to the Intolerable Acts & America's breakthrough to liberty and freedom from Britian
  • Declaration of Independence

    Declaration of Independence
    The Declaration of Independence was a written document stating that the 13 colonies were on longer a part of the British Empire. Thomas Jefferson was the man who had been chosen to write the first draft for it and after it was edited by Jogn Adams and Jefferson himself. Before this document was written, Britain and America had already been at war, but Americans finally decided when enough was enough and wrote it.
  • Lousiana Purchase

    Lousiana Purchase
    The Lousiana Purchase was the purchase of the Lousiana territory from the French(Napolean). It was approximately 827,000 square miles big and was bought for 15 million dollars which expanded our country by twice it's beginning size. This led to western exploration and much more people moving westward. this was done during Thomas Jefferson's presidency. Many Americans saw this purchase as unconstitutional, but the land was still acquired because there was no real valid reason.

    The War of 1812 was a 2 year war fought between the British with their allies and America with their allies. This war commenced due to several reasons, including trade restrictions, unsolved problems from the American Revolution, and issues concerning the Native Americans. The winner was the United States in which they gained Nationalism and country pride. The war was fought during James Madison's presidency.

    The California Gold Rush was started when a man named James W. Marshall found much gold in a mill in California. After this discovery, the news got around and people started traveling by ship,foot, or wagon to get their share also. This rush happened during James K. Polk's presidency.
  • Dred Scott Decision

    Dred Scott Decision
    The Dred Scott Decision was a trial by Dred Scott v. Sandford. Scott sued for his freedom and the court ruled that no African American could become a citizen, therefore they couldn't sue in federal court. After this happened, Abraham Lincoln spoke publicly AGAINST this since he thought the decision was absurd. The southerners agreed and took this as an offense, that a slave was suing for his freedom and trying to become a citizen.

    The Civil War was a war fought between the northern US and the southern US because of different beliefs towards slavery. It created Sectionalism in America and much hate towards each other. Abraham Lincoln was president during this war and he opposed the idea of slavery, and he especially opposed of it growing westward,

    Emancipation Proclamation
    The Emancipation Proclamation was a proclamation that issued that all slaves should be considered free. Abraham Lincon issued this during the 3rd year of the Civil War, since that is the reason the war was fought. This document changed the everyday lives of poeple since slaves were no longer allowed and no longer existed in America.
  • Lincoln's Assasination

    Lincoln's Assasination
    The Lincoln Assasination was when Abraham Lincoln, the president at that time, was shot at Fords Theater in Washington D.C. Lincoln was enjoying a film when Henry Rathbone noticed John Wilkes enter the box, but was too late to shoot because Wilkes had already shot Lincoln. This event happened 5 days after Robert E. Lee surrendered to Ulysses Grant. It changed America because Lincoln was one of the greatest presidents who changed the US for the better.
