  • The Start of Rebellion

    The Start of Rebellion
    King George III imposed new unfair taxes and laws on the colonists. This caused an outcry and the colonists started a confederation and proposed an annual congress. Then came the start of the rebellion.
  • The Stamp Act Congress

    The Stamp Act Congress
    The Stamp Act Congress was a group of delegates from the colonies that met in New York. They wrote the Declaration of Rights and Grievances which protested the unfair taxation from the English which was sent to the king. This was the first attempt made to separate the colonies from England.
  • The First Continental Congress

    The First Continental Congress
    The First Continental Congress meets to create the Declaration of Rights to send to King George III. Delegates attempted to influence people to boycott all trade with England until the unfair taxes were repealed.
  • The Second Continental Congress

    The Second Continental Congress
    The Second Continental Congress is created with representatives from each of the 13 colonies. The delegates meet in Pennsylvania to rewrite the Constitution. This group of people serves as the first government of the U.S. until 1781.
  • The Start of a New Nation

    The Start of a New Nation
    The Second Contintental Congress meets on this day (July 4) to approve of the Declaration of Independence. The delegates end up rewriting the whole Constitution. This day is marked as the day of independence for the United States of America.
