Also known as the Selective Draft Act. It authorized the federal government to raise a national army for the American entry into World War I through the cumpulsory enlistment of people. The act was canceled at the end of the war.

Emerged in two phases. The first phase was the "Three-day fever" and few deaths were reported. A few months later, the illness reemerged and was far more severe. It affected everyone no matter what they lived or what their social status was. An estimated 50 million deaths occured and within just a few months had killed more people than any other illness in recorded history.

Passed by Congress June 4, 1919, and ratified on August 18, 1920. This amendment guaranteed all women the right to vote after not being allowed to for a very long time.

They were held in the French Alps in Chamonix, France with sixteen nations participating. The US won four medals. Norway had the most with four gold and eighteen medals total. The winter olympics have been held ever since this year except during WWII.
