Japan intended to attack the Us's naval fleet, to avoid interference in their planned military actions in southeast asia. A Japanese general famously said they may have "awoken a sleeping giant." That they did.

    Italy, a former ally, is taken after the Fascist Council arrests Mussolini, and puts in Badoglio, who immediately folds to Germany, and surrenders. Germany then takes Rome and Italy, and frees Mussolini, and makes him a "puppet" dictator.

    The Cuban Dictator rises to power and turns Cuba communist, which is seen as a major win for the USSR in the Cold war, as it now had a place to send troops, and missiles. The US felt threatened by Communist Cuba.
