    Amelia Earhart was born in Atchison, Kansas. Her parents were Edwin and Amy Earhart. She had a sister named Muriel. Amelia was named after her two grandmothers.

    Amelia Earhart became a volunteer nurse during World War 1. (Otherwise known as WW1) While working as a nurse in the airfield, she bcame interested in planes.

    In 1932 Earhart took flight solo across the Atlantic Ocean. She flew across in a total of 14 hours and 56 minutes. She set the Women's Nonstop Transcontinental Speed Record. Earhart flew 2,477.8 miles in 19 hours and 5 minutes.

    Did you know that Amelia was the first person to solo fly the 2,408 miles across the Pacific Ocean? Well it is true. She also flied over Honolulu, California and Oakland.

    In 1935 Earhart was the first person to fly solo nonstop from Mexico City to Newark in 14hrs 19min. (Awesome, right?!?)

    On this day Amelia Earhart and Fred Noonan set out to fly across the world. Sadly, on this day she died. No one knows what happened but sadly it was her time. She dissapeared over Pacific Ocean.
