February 1, 2010: 10-month-old Jayden and 2-1/2-year-old Connor are discovered dead by their father in their Millet, Alta., home.

April 20, 2012: Judge declares Allyson McConnell guilty of manslaughter, not second-degree murder, in the deaths of her two young boys.

May 23, 2012: The Alberta Crown appeals McConnell's manslaughter conviction. In its appeal, Alberta Justice states the judge made some legal errors in relying on testimony from an expert witness whose opinion was not backed by evidence.

June 4, 2012: Allyson McConnell is sentenced to six years for each boy’s death, to be served concurrently. She also received two-for-one credit for her time in custody.

January 9, 2013: Alberta Corrections advises Canadian Border Services that McConnell would be released on April 4, 2013.

January 11, 2013: Immigration Enforcement Officer speaks with Susan Hughson, Director of Alberta Justice Appeals Branch, and is advised the appeals will be heard in September.

In February, Alberta asks for ways in which deportation could be delayed.

In March, Canadian Border Services Agency advises Alberta Justice Appeals that removal would proceed on April 8, 2013.

April 4, 2013: McConnell finishes serving her sentence. She was sentenced to six years for each boy’s death, to be served concurrently. She also received two-for-one credit for her time in custody. In the end, her sentence was reduced to 15 months.

April 4, 2013: McConnell is released from custody without any conditions.
