    Opium War

    The growing supply caused social, moral, and monetary problems, and so one of the emperor's highest advisors sent a letter to Queen Victoria of England. The pleas weren't answered. Britain refused to stop opium. And so the Chinese and the Britain went into war. It lasted 3 years, until the Chinese were defeated and a peace treaty was signed in 1842.
