  • The Arithmometer was the most mas-produced calculator.

The Arithmometer was the most mas-produced calculator.
The Arithmometer was the most massed-produced calculator, invented by Charles Xavier Thomas de Colmar. Compared to the other calculators that were previously used, such as Blaise Pascal's Pascaline, the Arithmometer was a calcualtor that was able to perform multiple problems repetively. It was able to perform addition, subtracrion, multiplication, and limited problems of division. This was very different, and much more efficient than what the Americans were used to (www.britannica.com).
  • Faraday invents the first electric motor

Faraday invents the first electric motor
In 1821, Michael Faraday invented the first electric motor. The motor is ran by magnetic fields, in a circular, conductive metal plate. This motor owes its existance to the discovery of elctromagnetism by Hans Orsted. The magnetic force is what drove the elctric motor to be successfull. The invention of the electric motor made it much easier to operate machines such as fans, wheels on cars, drill, and conveyor belts. It also made for much easier labor in the home.

  • The day of the design of the first mechanical computer

The day of the design of the first mechanical computer
Charles Babbage invented the first mechanical computer in 1822. This invention was a huge advance in American history. Although his inventions were not actually finished. This was due to funding problems, as well as peronal issues babbage struggled with. He felt that a machine could not do the work better than a human could. Clearly views are much different today, where us humans rely on computers to do everything for us. Due to this invention, the advances of computers have come a long way.

This has changed America in many ways, involving alomst every aspect of life (www.computernostalgia.net).
  • Joseph Niepce invents photography

    Joseph Niepce invents photography
The invention of photography was made by Joseph Niepce in 1826. Neipce had been working on the idea for about a decade before he was able to truly accomplish this invention. He started new research by himself regarding a concept his mind was obsessed with: being able to make permanent on a support through a compound the images seen at the back of a camera. There was a lot of experiementing, and trials involved, but in the end, it was very successful (photography-museums.com).
  • The lawn mower was invted by Edwin Beard Budding.

The lawn mower was invted by Edwin Beard Budding.
in 1830, Edwin Beard Budding invented the first lawn mower. Budding thought of the idea after observing a machine in a local cloth mill. He was inspired by the machine, and then sought to create a device to cut grass. he designed the machine to have a wheel frame, and and have blades turn to cut close to the lawn's plane. Budding's invention met a recurring need, and it was not long until the lawn mower became an essenital part of every day life. It was no longer seen as a chore to mow the lawn.

This invention made every day life much easier for the Americans. It was no longer a hassle to mow their lawn, and some even saw it as fun (www.ezinearticles.com). W obviously have a different opinion now after all these years of a manual lawn mower.
  • The discovery of chloroform

    The discovery of chloroform
Samuel Guthrie discovered chloroform in 1831. He, Von Liebig, and Eugne Soubeiran all discovered chloroform almost simultaneously. Chlorform can be produced using a veriety of different processes, and it a heavy transparent liquid. The first medical use of chlorform was used to treat asthma, and to dull the pain when setting broken bones. Today chloroform is used as an anaesthetic during kidney or liver procedures. This invention created a huge advance in the study of medicine (www.helium.com).
  • Faraday discovers the electro-magnetic current.

    Faraday discovers the electro-magnetic current.
Michael Faraday was a chemist, who discovered the electric current in 1831. During the early years of his work, Faraday focused manily on chemical problems. His studies became more in depth, and it eventually led to his discovery of the electric current. Faraday's research of electricity and elcetrolysis was guided by the belief that electricity is the only one of the many manifestations of the united forces of nature, which is included in heat, light, magentism, and chemical affinity.

Faraday discovers the electro-magnetic current continued
His work finally paid off when finding the electric current. He was able to help scientists around the globe with anything dealing with electricity. This invention will forever effect America (www.phy.pmf.unizg.hr).
  • The combine harvester was invented.

    The combine harvester was invented.
The combine harvester was created in 1834 by Cyrus McCormick. The combine harvester is a machine that combines the taks of harvesting, threshing, and cleaning grain crops. The first combines were drawn by horse and mule teams, and used a bull wheel to provide power. This made the chore of harvesting not really seem like a chore anymore. The people were excitied to harvest their crops, and were able to grow much more, resulting in ultimately more money (www.newwolrdencyclopedia.org).
  • Braille was invented.

    Braille was invented.
Growing up, Louis Braille was blind in one eye. He attended a public school for two years, until he became blind out of his other eye. He then attended a school for the blind, where a soldier ame to talk about a way of communication called "night writing", which wa what they used to talk to other soldiers at night where there was no light to read. Night writing inspired Louis to invent Braille, which is a type of communcaiton for blind people. This invetnion gave blind people a whole new hope.
  • Jacob Perkins invented the refrigerator.

    Jacob Perkins invented the refrigerator.
In 1834, Jacob Perkins created the first running refrigerator. Before this invention, people cooled their food with ice and snow, that was either gathered locally or bought. The invention of the refrigerator ceased all the issues the Americans were previously facing. The refirgerator used ether in a vapor compression cycle. This creation was soon revised, and made even more convenient, but that could not have been so successful without Jacob Perkin's original running refriegerator.

Having a refrigerator gave the Americans the oportunity to keep their food in there home, and made the process much simpler and less messy. It was an ingenious invention that has impacted the world immensely (whoinvented.org).
  • Samuel Morse invents Morse Code.

    Samuel Morse invents Morse Code.
Samuel Morse was an inventor to several aspects of the telegraph, and in 1835, he developed Morse code. He developed a working model of an elctric telegraph, using materials such as home-made battery, and old clock-work gears. He hired two partners to assist him on this astonishing invention, and ther three of them made the idea of Morse's telegraph device a reality. The invention of Morse code has immensly changed American society for the better. In 1842, Samuel Morse "wired" the United States.
  • Samuel Colt invents the revolver.

    Samuel Colt invents the revolver.
The revolver was invented by Samuel Colt in 1835. The key behind Colt's revolver model compared to previous multi-shot pistols, was the simplicity. Colt used a very simple pawl, attached to the hammer of a pistol. Cot was able to raise enough money to start a factory of his own in 1836. The revoler has played a huge role in the history of American weapons. It was one of the firt multi-shot weapons to be of mass-production, and became a symbol of the American frontier (coltrevolver.umwblogs.org).
  • Morse code continued

    Morse code continued
Due to the invention of Morse code, America had the opportunity to speak to another without others knowing. This was an ingenius technology, that greatly impacted the world (web.mit.edu).
